Is this PC Build suitable for Music Production

My first time making a PC are these specs ok for Music Production? All I really want is a fast PC with good CPU and a good bit of memory. A custom GPU isn’t necessary for me as I won’t be gaming. Is it alright?

What's your max budget and what kinds of VST's do you work with ie, how many at a time?

What DAW do you work with and how many channels?

An AMD build would be an entirely different league in both performance and latency for the same money.

Hi, thanks for the response, I use fl studio and usually don’t exceed 80 channels.
I work with Serum, nexus, sylenth all the major ones really I would use around 30 different vsts in a project at least

the new AMD processors will beat intel in most cases, from gaming to music production. I do music/sound myself and I've gone for the 5900X. The builds you're seeing on the website are probably not updated since the new AMD cpu's released, since before that, intel was the way to go, but now their technology is years old compared to the zen3. You'd also want a faster RAM speed, at least 3000MHz and an m.2 drive.
Also, stuff like you mentioned, the vst synths aren't really heavy, the heavier stuff is any kind of bigger libraries (e.g. Kontakt stuff and similar) and effects processors (anything you'd put into the mixer), most good stuff tend to build up on CPU if you're on a bigger project.

That hasn't been the case since very early with Ryzen 3000 series processors before they'd updated the BIOS. These new 5000 series processors absolutely smash intel all over the place both in performance and latency, there's absolutely no contest.

I also do production with Logic Pro and Ableton live. Believe me, Intel are incredibly poor compared to AMD for audio.

Do you have a windows license you can carry over to this build from a machine you're retiring? You can legitimately transfer any license to this build.

No, in fact I’m moving over from a Mac Book Air so this is a bug change for me

Won't work, with that CPU you'll need the H115i Pro XT cooler as an absolute minimum which is over £100 on it's own.

You need faster RAM also, for audio 3600MHz is recommended.

Unfortunately prices have risen significantly with Covid, everything is about £200 more expensive compared to 6 months ago. This is the closest I can get it without sacrificing the core:

Oh yeah, it's a monster processor, if you're coming from a macbook air, it will be completely unrecognisable from what you're used to.

5900x would be the optimum but it's just not possible at this budget.

Forgot to add, that motherboard has a thunderbolt header, doesn't mean it has thunderbolt out the back, you have to buy an add in card which costs around £100 but coming from a Mac, sure you could appreciate that in the future when you've got the budget:

Forgot to add, that motherboard has a thunderbolt header, doesn't mean it has thunderbolt out the back, you have to buy an add in card which costs around £100 but coming from a Mac, sure you could appreciate that in the future when you've got the budget:
