Seems that Nvidia does not support Asynchronous shaders which is the main reason for AMDs huge gains over Nvidia in DX12. Rather disappointing, but this could certainly give AMD the upper hand in a months time if Nvidia fail to implement it. Even if DX12 is rarely used today, most new releases will include it by the end of the year (which sucks cos I hate windows 10).

What is asynchronous compute?

It's essentially multi-threading and means that the computer doesn't hang waiting for a particular task to complete. So from the main thread you can say to thread 2 "do ABC" and instead of sitting and twiddling its thumbs, the main thread can also be doing something too. It can't always be done, because if thread 2 is using B then I can't use it. But certain tasks use separate data, eg physics and lighting so they can be paralleled.

Thanks, quite a major advancement then, hope nvidia catch up.

Yes, it's the biggest "optimization" of DX12 if utilized by the developer.

I'll be waiting to see what AMD can offer with Polaris and pray that it's as good and cheaper :D. I get the feeling if there cards aren't quite up to scratch then they'll just make them cheaper.

Yeah I'm sure that it is more than capable, but requires implementation in the drivers which currently isn't there.

Apparently they've also put back Vega to October, which would likely contain the 'sequels' to the Fury series with HBM2.

That looks sexy as hell! It looks like I may get quite close to what I paid for my 980ti (PCS do great prices!) and I was going to wait for the 1080ti but those cards.....

Just a quick heads up, this may have been covered above. We are unlikely to offer liquid cooling 1080 cards straight away as we have to wait for the EVGA cards to be released and then the cooler blocks to be made.

Will you be offering a review system type deal with a 1080?
Kinda waiting out for thatt

This is the first time in a while that I'm really interested in a new GPU release. Seems to be quite an impressive upgrade. I hope that AMD can provide some big gains as well (GPU & CPU).

Am personally also really excited, as I will upgrade from a 650M Hahaha :D
