Gta 5

Just got told that today. I wasn't aware of that at all. Not in a hurry now. I'll be down to £5 by then lol.

I suppose it gives people a chance to complete the single player before they start mucking around on multiplayer. I'd heard about GTA Online but assumed that was a different thing altogether, like some kind of free to play game coming out :L

grand theft auto: Fan stabbed and robbed of new game
a grand theft auto fan was hit with a brick, stabbed and robbed of the new computer game moments after queuing to buy it. the 23-year-old was attacked as he made his way home from a supermarket in the early hours of this morning.
He had been to the asda superstore in colindale, north west london, which had opened late for the worldwide release of the fifth version of the notoriously violent game at midnight.
A scotland yard spokesman said: "we were called at 1.20am to princes avenue, colindale. A 23-year-old man was shopping, then on his way back home he was hit with a brick and stabbed.
"he was robbed of items he had bought from a nearby asda supermarket, including a copy of grand theft auto."
police believe the attack was carried out by multiple suspects but said it remained unclear how many were responsible. the victim was taken to a north london hospital, where he was in a stable condition this morning.
Detectives have asked witnesses to contact crimestoppers with any information on the attack.
Twitter users meanwhile expressed their shock at the violent mugging, with one writing, "it's just a game".
The release of grand theft auto v was expected to break sales records after hitting the shelves today.
Amazon, the online retailer, has already sold out of the game, which reportedly cost around £170 million to make and market.
Experts estimate it could generate £1 billion during its first year on sale when gamers are predicted to buy some 25 million copies.
Kevin mcfeely, from the game store, said the company opened as many branches as it could last night.
Gta v has received rave reviews from critics across the board, who have labelled it "one of the very best video games ever made".

Yeah, they will blame the game influence at some point soon i guess but in all honesty the amount of thugs that bought this game is probably quite high and they were thugs before they played the game.

If it keeps them indoors robbing virtual people instead of real people though that would be a plus.

Thought this was actually an interesting read

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-24066068

It discusses GTA's place as a British icon that has been exported globally, but it does touch a lot of the whole violence is as violence does part of the criticism leveled at R*.

Also, the Beeb kindly opened it up for comment, so you can have a good 20 minute giggle read the negatively rated comments :D

Its not ugly. Just below what youve gotten used to on PC. Besides all the screens were from next gen anyway. There is a work around for Lag on the Xbox version which involved installing part of the game on a usb stick rather than the harddrive. However the PS3 version is a single disc and its not possible. Also a manditory 8gb install.

Can't wait for the calls to ban this filth because people will play the game and then imitate it in real life.

Been playing FIFA for 10 years now, still not a Premier League footballer.

Hah yes, there is a reason its the top rated :D

Perfectly encapsulates everything I think about how games and other media really affect people.

Idiots are idiots, they don't become idiots because they played a game :)

I don't know if I'm a rare case or not but as a child/teenager I wasn't actually allowed to play GTA. I could play any game I wanted pretty much except for GTA because of the drugs/prostitutes rather than because of the violence of it. I played games very similar to it like True Crime and Driver but GTA was always the sole exception...

At the end of the day, it is rated an 18 and therefore it should be over 18's that play it. You can't blame game developers because I really don't know what more they can do... we have violent films like Saw and the Human Centipede and yet nobody makes a fuss over them because they're rated appropriately but parents seem to take film ratings more seriously than game ratings. And I'm sorry but there's much more violent video games out there than GTA, GTA just happens to be one of the most realistic in terms of what happens in real life whereas chainsawing something in half on Gears of War is fine because clearly that's not realistic.. -.-

Basically, if kids get hold of the game and turn into psycho killers, I 100% blame the parents. I'm not a parent myself so apologies if I offend anybody but I don't fall for the whole "well all their friends have it so I had to buy it for them" excuse. No, just no. It drives me up the wall, same with iphones and all that rubbish, my nieces are 5 and 6 and they both have ipod touches and it drives me mad! They sit there and turn their headphones up full-blast which even for an adult like myself who is fairly accustomed to loud music is pretty ear-shredding still.

I never played GTA until a few years ago and I don't feel like I missed anything. Sure, there were times when my older brother would play it and I'd watch for a bit wishing I could play or if school mates talked about it but it wasn't like a "oh my god I may have to go and jump off a bridge as I'm not allowed to play it" moment. The first one I played was probably San Andreas a few years ago and to be honest I didn't find it that fantastic. I bought GTA4 for my xbox about a year ago and have barely touched it as well. Don't get me wrong I like open world games like Saints Row, Sleeping Dogs, Red Dead, etc etc, I just don't see why GTA gets so much bad Press compared to everything else.. It's just a game at the end of the day! Not everybody is obsessed with it and I certainly don't think it pushes people into becoming psychopath killers. I've bought 5 just because I've heard it's going to be game of the year plus I'm not playing any similar games at the moment. I won't be playing it because I crave for a life of murdering people and causing destruction, I'll play it because it's a good laugh and because it's a time-killer.

The Beeb's report on that stabbing

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-24127999

I think you hit part of the problem Grimez. A lot of the issues surrounding games like GTA isn't their content, but the willingness of parents to buy it for their sub-18 children...and then complain about its content :D

End of the day, if you can't discern imaginary from reality, then you have more far reaching problems than whether you play GTA or not.

Totally agree with you Grimezy,

I wasn't allowed Grand Theft Auto 1 back in the day, i tried my dad to buy it, we drove all the way into the shop i picked up the game, he read the box and said no and explained to my why. Although not happy with it at the time i'm glad he did and i would do the same.

I went out at lunch time and there was a kid in M&S with the Game in hand running around with the mother doing her shopping. It makes me so angry. Is she clueless or does she just not care. I think games and movies should have the same restrictions as alcohol, everyone present must be of age before you can buy it.

I used to work in a cinema and the amount of times an adult would try to sneak their kid into an adult rated movie was ridiculous, there response being "there my kid and i will decide what is and is not suitable for them to watch". I feel bad for every shop keeper and ticket attendant suspected to this but the up most respect for the ones who stick to the law.

Parents need to take an interest into what kids are watching, not giving into things like "aww but Tommy has it" etc.

AGHHHHHH

My mate wasn't allowed in to see the Matrix 2 - It was a 12........ I think it was just before they came up with the 12A rating.

I still don't really understand why they created the 12A rating, you see plenty of under 12's in them! Whats worse is you see plenty of children who are really too young to the films and they just end up making a lot of noise and disturbing everyone else!
Yes, I am the one who likes going to the cinema early on weekend mornings cos there are never many people about.
