It's absolutely normal, it's an electrical component, so there will be buzzing at very low volumes as the air escapes capacitors when it's cooling / heating up.

You are doing yourself no favours, you're looking for problems and causing some as a result. Just sit back and enjoy your computer.

Please bare in mind Spyder I hear this when the PC is turned off but the PSU is switched on!

For future reference, what are the signs in general that the PSU needs to be replaced? If the noise gets louder? sonically speaking.

You'd know it if there was an issue, the pc would fail to power on or it would squeel loudly.

It's very obvious when something isn't right on a PC.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with yours.

Just enjoy it.

I hate to say it but I am only paranoid because it took two RMA's just for my PC to turn on..

First PC arrived damaged in regards to the top panel, glass was everywhere so they just replaced the case.
Second PC came with a new case but the same parts, I found glass shards underneath the GPU and the AIO pump was dead. Came to find out the GPU was scratched too..

So this is my third PC and I am only asking these questions because I never had a good start to begin with! PC Specialist have been nothing but supportive and I feel I just had a bad roll of the dice and it happens so!

Does this mean that the noise is potentially an issue? or is it still a normal thing..

The PSU doesnt turn off when you shut down the PC, you have to flick the power switch on the PSU to turn it off

Modern PCs are never off, they just go into a low power state

It's perfectly normal.

I called PC Specialist and asked them as to why the cable management was the way it was because I am myself completely unable to screw back on the cable cover so now I cant even put on the glass side panel! They simply said its because this case is a difficult one for cable management regarding my build..

Guys what are my options now? The cover is hanging out a little bit as you can see here so I cannot physically press the glass side panel to push it in. Even if I take the cover off, the glass panel has a little bit of pressure from being pressed on by the cables.

My main question here is can I leave the PC without a glass panel on the side of the cables? Will this affect the temperature in the PC on the other side? And what would be the best option to cover it for dust protection?

Everything was fitted, although I did say to PCS that the welcome box shouldnt be pressing on the side on the top panel in the packaging, should have been next to the legs of the case. The DPD driver had some blame in my opinion too but hey here we are!

So that constant noise is normal even though the ERP is enabled? and that even when the PC is shut down and the power switch of the PSU is on, the buzzing noise is still normal?

If the PSU is buzzing when the switch on the PSU is off that likely means the power cable isn't properly inserted and it's arching. The PSU isn't active when it's switched off so theres zero power in it.

As said before it could just be the capacitors cooling.

I'm not sure what you mean by the ERP setting?

No no, the PSU is buzzing when the PSU switch is on; when the PC is shut off.


ERP mode is another name for a state of BIOS power management features that instructs the motherboard to turn off power to all system components, including USB and Ethernet ports meaning your connected devices will not charge while in a low power state.

The BIOS has no control over the PSU, the BIOS is part of the motherboard, PSU comes before that.

Last time I can say the same thing, yes, because it's not off. Any PSU makes noise at some level, pick up a laptop PSU or put your ear to the back of a monitor when it's on standby, it's completely normal

I see you are still looking for faults!

Is this during start up or during normal use ? Does anything stop working when it happens ?

Hey all,

I know I am seen here as ocd and looking for issues.

But just to own my first pc I have had to go through 3 RMA’s just to have a go at it after finally making the transition from console gaming..

First my pc arrived damaged with glass everywhere..the packaging arrived open at my doorstep.

Second RMA they replaced the case but I found glass shards dropping from the gpu, which damaged and chipped the gpu fans, the cpu cooler pump also had died. I had green lines going across the screen. Pc would take a couple reboots just to let me enter the password.

Third RMA I am here and my pc isn’t more than a month old. I loaded up warzone earlier this evening and I noticed a yellow artefact..which appeared for a second only.

Now I cannot upload videos here so I will share the link to where I’ve had it uploaded if the mods do not mind at all. -

Please note that this was the only moment I was able to capture from tonight. Last night I had red flickers coming and going as well.

Would this be compared to this symptom?

Can the mods please also not mix this with the general discussions thread because this is something completely different.. I am very sorry for always pestering but it’s because I’ve never had a fair start to begin with and now I’m always waking up to something potentially new to worry about!
