Discounts! I want to see discounts in the future

No online company i have ever used...for anything has been "open to haggling". All they do is jack the price up higher than needed, and then "offer" a "discount" :)

yeah but dell are pants!

Id disagree with that statement, some dell laptops and pcs are pants, others are very good, I have an xps and its been really good to me, I also have had alienware laptop in the past (since it got taken over by dell) and that was also fantastic.

lol, here is one reason I think DELL is pants
http://configure.euro.dell.com/dell...&s=dhs&cs=ukdhs1&model_id=alienware-aurora-r3
Tried to create a pc with a similar spec to mine. I can only have I7 2600 on one rig, cant select a motherboard or PSU??? Therefore DELL cant offer anything near what PCS can offer.

Edit - can't have A PCI card? Can't have two GPU's?

Well they pick the motherboard and PSU to suit your needs, and they do an excellent job about it too, always use top notch components, I can see all the sandybridge CPUs there and k varients, to be honest they have everything you need, oh and I can also see the option for dual gpus, lol dont know where your looking.

lol just looked at that configurator, chose a spec similar but with worse graphics amongst other things and was over £400 more than my quote from PCS

looking at it though, it seems investing in the i5 2300 CPUs may be a good idea, i have seen quite a few people on here looking for something smaller than the 2400 but quad core and bam theres the answer

lol but I was meaning there is no choice of motherboards? no choice of psu's? It wont let me have two 580's?

I kinda pointing out that dell can't offer me a pc that pcs can.

Edit - also noticed that due to the lack of motherboard options i cant have a sound card and network card? lol

Rather difficult to decide. I'm able to haggle for really good deals and those laptops don't appear more crappy. I'm only planning to use the laptop for several years before changing it so unless I buy a faulty laptop it should last until then. Only thing I'm worried about is breaking it. I dropped my last laptop (Advent) cracking the lcd and motherboard and PCSpecialist only offers a 1 month accidental damage cover. If it's just wanting aftersales support for fonts, drivers, and software related things I can use any public forum. Anyone know how shock proof/fragile the Vortex II is?

My Vortex II is pretty good. It's been well used in various environments and has travelled round the world with me. Hasn't missed a beat. It's been on aeroplanes, boats and oil rigs, carried in Wenger bag and used daily since I bought it for work and pleasure. Now, I do take care of it but, it has a couple of bumps as laptops do on a day to day use.

I heard you can get a £15 discount using a ***** promo code. This true? Someone's already got a discount using this promo code.

I don't understand? You're upset because you didn't have a code to get a discount while others do?

I'm upset because I know PCSpecialist is lying, claiming nobody gets discounts when they do.

And I have no problem proving I'm a student. I just don't get how others got this promo code and why PCSpecialist is lying about it.

there are occasionally discounts in magazines there used to be one for £15 but that isnt given to a certain group of people, just those who buy the mag and get the discount and then you get people who can get VAT back, ie businesses and those in the armed forces

I dont know if there was a promo code, but two thigs I will say:

1/ Promo codes are different than selective discounts for certain groups of people.

2/ Quit actin like a 5 yr old

I'd personally want to go for a company (such as PCS) that has very competitive prices, as well as a great reputation. What's the point in going to a cheapo shop that has a rubbish reputation, which you will inevitably have to go back to get your computer fixed, which will more than likely bump up the price to what you would have paid for a computer from PCS :l

Some of the comments in this thread are a right kick in the bollocks to PCS considering it's their forum. If somebody is in doubt about buying from them just look at it this way - all of the positive things being said about them are from people who have bought from them, all of the negative things being said about them are from potential customers shopping around. In my eye's a recommendation from a genuine customer far outweighs the whinings of somebody having a look around.

The problem you have thou guys is any computer from anywhere is only as good or reliable as the parts you put in it. I had my PC around a month ago from PCS, its still not working now. Ive had replacement graphics card come out replacement PSU, carried out checks on the RAM, HDD and in fairness the guys have been really helpful from PCS however im no better off than buying from Dell or anyone else as unfortunately i was unlucky enough to have a bad part in the PC.

I just cancelled my Alienware M17x R3 order and was going to place an order here. That's after spending hours haggling for a 25% discount for the Alienware. You just picked the right time to make me indecisive once again. :(

So you're saying you've had replacements and your laptop is still not working, and it's been over a month like this?
