Update:

Proccessed Date: 31-08-2012
Pre-Production Date: 04-09-2012
Build Date: 13-09-2012
Test Date: 14-09-2012 (12:41)
Awaiting Dispatch: 14-09-2012 (12:52) --- (11 minutes testing??)

Build, Test and awaiting Dispatch in 1 day. Completely missed the Quality Control stage.
Told you it will get rushed but nobody believed me.
Where as my first PC they made in 2010 had the full works.

I don't think they missed quality control, it might be the case a stage is not shown in your status. It wouldn't be in PCS interest to send systems that are not checked properly. For peace of mind you can contact them directly.

I had the same thing, my testing and quality control together were aparently done in 30 mins. This leaves me a little worried.

I have an update for you guys!

Laptop arrived. /cheer
Installed OS /cheer
Installed Drivers /Cheer
Installed Guild Wars 2 /Cheer

Ran Guild Wars 2 . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . .5 FPS MAX.

I thought.... no way!?!?!

Did my own tests, nothing changed. Forced to call PCS. Spoke to tech person and he even took control of my laptop and said that the NVIDIA graphics card is there, being recognized but for some reason the built in graphics chip is taking priority over the Nvidia 660M and not running it.

SO more tests the next day (today) with re installing windows and using only the drivers PCS sent me (no updating graphic drivers) it still gave me MAX 5 FPS.

So the tech guy said to do an RMA and hopefully someone is gonna pick it up tomorrow... I sold my old laptop cause I knew I would get this in hope to play Guild Wars 2 and now I wlll be laptop less again for possibly 2 weeks while my friends play and I stare at the Guild Wars 2 Box.

I told you all that it was rushed but you didn't want to believe it. I didn't want to believe it. I guess they just wanted to process more builds that day :(

Hopefully when I get it back I don't get another dis functional laptop or I will be asking for a refund.

Thanks

Naturally you are frustrated, and opinions are opinions, but spouting stuff about it being rushed are both not helpful to others reading or based on any evidence other than it doesn't work. There will always be a measure of failure in tech and sadly it has happened to you. Taking one example does not back up a claim that PCS rushed testing etc. You've RMAed it, so just wait and see what the problem is. Of course its frustrating, especially after having waited for stock etc, but PC/Laptop ownership is more about the years you have them, not the weeks waiting to get 'em :)

Chin up and all that!

I like the word "naturally" you used and i will explain to you using that word why i believe it was rushed. It was mainly confirmed by the tech guy i spoke to. He me that it may take upto 2 weeks for the laptop to return because of all the orders they are processing and they are limited on staff. So naturally what doesa person who builds pcs all day do when he has a huge line of pcs waiting for building? He would rush a few of them. Just like anyone else would rush an essay to meet a deadline or rushing to get to work so you are not late etc its only natural for someone to do that and even more natural to assume it happened.

Don't get me wrong i understand this kind of things happen in life. Its just a kick when it happens to you.

Well hopefully its all sorted when it returns.

I am sorry to hear about the issue with your laptop, I am sure PCS will get that sorted for you. I do agree with DeadEyeDuk, unless you have strong evidence regarding PCS rushing quality control rather than just assumptions, it is a bit unfair to conclude that they are trying to cut corners in any way. I had a couple of issues with my system and I judged PCS base on their aftercare support which was excellent rather than the issues I experienced when I first got the pc.

I can certainly appreciate your point when it comes to having lots of things to get done and not enough time to do them but I would hate to think they would simply miss out steps

All things aside however, hopefully the company can redeem itself in your eyes with their after sales support! Fingers crossed it gets resolved quickly for you bud!

Hey! Although I had been extremely busy and still yet to write a review (I will! I am moving this weekend, will do after, took some pictures!)

Shaktimus I feel your pain and like me you were worried. It is unfortunate that yours had some problems and now you have to wait even more :(

Me on the other hand (touch wood) experienced hardly any problems! Screen is awesome, no dead pixels! Everything works well apart from the power brick which makes a strange whining sound, currently looking into that. Installed and played so far dota 2 - smooth! Installed also Deus Ex:Human Revolution, that I am playing fine on just below high settings (My card is just a 670m).

Fans are bit louder than expected but compared to my old toshiba a300d a lot better balanced and the sound of 2 fans starting up at various times is very satisfying! Never had 2 fans in a laptop before :)

My test/quality control was also done in 15minutes or 30, will check emails for review. But both were done by Carl A. - if same guy does testing, I would not expect more quality control really! So I hope they will sort out your issue and you wont find anymore!

Was going to say: Make sure you install fully Hotkey driver before you restart computer! And if you try to change keyboard colour with a button but nothing happening - it is because the button actually brings out the menu for you to use. But menu doesn't pop up all the time so look out for it at the bottom - on the taskbar. But I assume you had no such problems?

p.s: Question to whoever reads this. I know WEI (Windows Experience Index) is not important, nevertheless why old Nvidia driver from CD (295) gives 7.2 score and new driver (300+) gives a 6.8?

Presumably it does things differently in the new driver which is good for games but causes a slight slowdown for the WEI, or adds new ways of doing things that the WEI isn't designed for. It's really not a useful or meaningful way of measuring performance beyond the most basic level.

OK Update again:

Laptop arrived Friday 28th after getting repaired.
Came back in a much smaller box than the original i sent back.
Ok turned it on, installed everything and prayed the game plays properly and it did.
Hooray!
So end of the day I turn off the laptop and go to bed.
This morning I turned it on and straight away noticed the screen was flickering horribly, ON and OFF. I was like WTF!?!?!
This can't be real. So i let it load and I am on my desktop with the flickering still happening.
So I reset and hope it was a minor glitch.
Guess what.. it wasn't....
So i recorded it for evidence. The battery was full as well.
So just as I was about to turn it off my brother suggested to plug in the charger.
And amazingly that stopped the flickering. But as soon as you remove it, the flickering starts up again.
Seriously... what?!?!?!
PCspecialist first sends me a laptop with a broken graphics card, then repairs it and sends it back with what I am guessing is a faulty battery....
It's not acceptable that the screen should flicker that horribly like that when not connected to the charger.

I will be asking for a refund this Monday as they are not at work on weekends i believe.

EDIT: Searching online, it would seem that it may be a faulty Screen and not Faulty Battery... either way.. I am asking for a refund.

Ah that's sad to hear mate. Its also a shame you're not prepared to get it fixed again however I can appreciate your frustration as you have already sent it back for repairs before.

In the end I hope everything gets sorted to your satisfaction.

Wow, lucky you. I ordered mine last Friday and it was processed the same day; then it entered the dreaded 'Pre-production' and has been there ever since. Status is currently '5th working day' so nothing done till Monday. I'm guessing my order has slipped down the back of a workbench...... [rollinglaugh]

It's amazing how once a computer is ordered all patience and reason flies out of the window :taz:

Big sympathies Shaktimus.

I am in no blistering hurry. All that really matters is that I avoid the Shaktimus experience :sweatdrop:

I have also only heard good things about PCS and they were very quick with my previous desktops delivered after 8 work days excellent service all round
I too however are stuck at 15 working days in the pre production phase but that has been for the Optimus laptop which ran out stock
