Erm, remind me what motherboard your new computer has? If it doesnt have IDE, its a no go, unless you buy an IDE to SATA bi-directional converter, which looks big and...encumbersome...and...sometimes doesnt work for DVD drives lol. Meant for HDDs

i Got help from tech support, thanks sleinous. It seems like an easy process...just plug ide cable to motherboard(blue) black into ide dvd drive and then plug in power. So hopefully its all good.

When am older and i get a job am definetely forking out like 1.5k. anyway just wanted to say installed dvd drive easily, everything was fine...managed to not kill any componenets with static. Windows read the drive fine and i checked dvds..all fine :d. So happy with myself,i feel like computer pro :D. Anyway only problem was removing the front of the case and breaking the slots off....that was super hard and i was very scared of breaking the case...but luckily i didnt.

Jack told me about gorman telling him about gpu etc and would i be able to replace it myself. I replied saying i would need packaging and anti static bags etc. And also told him about how i was thinking of re-installing everything etc. He replied saying i would have to have it packed before dhl gets there and bubble wrap would be fine. So i thought i can just wipe re-install the os then install gpu. So i replied back saying ok thats fine and how i will re-install gpu after fresh install". He never replied so i sent him another message but still havent got a reply...so atm am a bit :/. The monitor was recieved by pcspec and the fault was notified. But havent got a reply on that either except that they have recieved it. Its been like a month or maybe more and i still am trying to get it fixed. Gotta be patient...i guess...='(

/rant over

ps:sleinous you should have never asked that question....see how much you have to read now...siwwy sleinous

Someone please help me from the pcspec team...arrrrgh...what do i have to do to get some attention. Please get this fixed,i really want a proper usable computer!. I got a thing asking me to write a review on the pcspec website,i postponed it thinking if i wrote a review now its going to be written in rage, seems like the same story still. I dont want to be like some customers who get mad and go out of had,but a month.

Use bubblewrap and jiffy bag, phone them up today, explain the problem and refer them to this forum thread. If its going to be rma'd itll be sent out to you next day delivery - make the edchange with dhl, job done. Also ask about your monitor while youre on the phone.

As soon as i posted that i got a reply from jack and i guess the gpu problem is sorted, still waiting on monitor problem. I suspect the great gorman had something to do with it.

ps:when sending back old graphics card,do i have to attach address etc?..and rma number?

I talked to jack on live chat,i am so annoyed at getting mad at him. Hes a really nice guy,was very helpfull. Monitor isnt pcspec fault, its HKC holding them back. Apparentely its customer defect according to HKC and so pcspec are trying to sort it out. This i can understand :D. Gpu comes tomorrow and everything is "fine and dandy".

Took out my old gpu from my computer, while working i was walking on thick carpet. I had to move across to put gpu in the packaging. But before i did anything in computer or on gpu i made sure i touched metail parts and discharged myself. For further safety i plueed the pc in and turned off at the socket and the psu level. Am really paranoid and need some assurance. Also when pulling out gpu and powercable from gpu,is it meant to be hard...cos it was for me...but its my first time so have nothing to compare to. But like x2 harder than pulling ram out. Hopefully i didnt mess up with any of the pci slots. I so gotta take a picture of the inside of my pc and make sure or else i will be just paranoid all day and freak out. And i cant even turn on and check my pc as i dont have a graphics card in...which is a big fail by me :D. Anyway any comments are welcome, and tell me about your experiences with static electricity :D

Sounds fine, I was just like that the first time I removed a component from a computer.
