Can't disassemble Tongfang GJ5CN6E laptop

Hi,

I've been trying to reach for the CPU and GPU of my Tongfang GJ5CN6E in order to change the thermal paste, but I still can't get to remove the top cabinet despite taking out all the screws with the exception of the "1" (missing in picture, pay it no mind) placed on the cooling part. I was sent some pictures with instructions for a similar model from PCS, but these don't have a module I've highlighted with a yellow square on the left. Am I supposed to remove this component as well? The cable doesn't seem to be one of those you can just plug out and in again so I was a bit reticent to proceed. 😅

I kinda manage to detach part of the chassis if I try, but I can't seem to understand how to remove it from the rear ventilation ducts, it's just really clingy to the point I'm afraid of snapping the plastic. It also gives me the feeling that I'm lifting the whole thing rather only the top cabinet which is not what I want of course.

I'll greatly appreciate any kind of suggestions or clarifications about the matter, many thanks! I've never disassembled a laptop before so please forgive my newbie's reluctance at touching and moving stuff. 😂

As per above if it is a PCS build sure someone with knowledge will help. I would definitely check under the battery though as have known a few laptops to have 1 or 2 screws lurking there.

Do you mean literally under it? I hope not cause I can't move the thing, it's probably glued or something. If you mean the screws placed below it, I made sure to remove those as well.^^ Thanks for answering!

Are you saying you can't remove the battery? Probably best to wait for someone with experience of that chassis for guidance as I don't have experience of it. Just seen a few laptops that once you remove the battery there are screws underneath attaching the chassis together so wondered if that was the issue if you felt you had removed all screws but it still felt attached somewhere.

Could be! The battery still felt pretty stuck in the place so I didn't insist. Thanks!

If you contact PCS they may be able to advise. They’re open now
I had already contacted them, they sent me a few pictures of the process but for a fairly similar model (and removing the battery is never mentioned in those steps) which was super useful for the early steps since I had never put screws out of a laptop before. However, after trying this morning I realised I actually have another issue. I can detach the front of the top cabinet no problem, but the rear... it seems like it's just stuck there no matter what I do. I usually grip the plastic around the fans for the former, but I can't seem to find a way to do the same for the rear. For "rear" I mean the part where all the sockets and the 2 little black screws are, of course. That part just won't budge, so I think it's not that I'm lifting the whole thing, but simply that that side stays in place and keep things tight on its side. I wonder if that part is supposed to be so stubborn by design or if I just got a faulty chassis. 🤔

Don’t guess, call PCS. If they’ve given a manual for a “similar” chassis then it’s not the right manual!
