Best Gaming PC I can buy FOR £2500

Yeah I mean I think considering I have the extra money I know many think its a waste but I think for the extra money it may just go that little bit longer you know? I know paying more does not always mean better but yeah...

So I have decided I think that I am going for this setup...

http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/quotes/intel-2011-overclocked/YpvxBpEmp_/ and maybe once they come down in price I will add another 690 in there (although I doubt I will need it for a long time tbh lol)
The configurator recommends a 1200W power supply adding a second 690.

At least you took my advice about the case....but seriously, that processor and GPU just aren't needed to run games at the highest settings and probably won't be for 2+ years. If you went with the 670s, which are almost on par with a 690 by the way http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/graphics/39605-nvidia-geforce-gtx-670-sli-vs-the-beasttm/ , then upgraded when you needed to, it could possibly save you the best part of a grand...that's a good holiday or something.

670 spec say £1900 - wait 2 years - 690s drop in price to a hypothetical £500 each - New SLI total = £2900 - 2+ more years at the highest level of gaming.

Your spec = £3300 - +£500-£800 when you sli = £4000 approx for 4+ years at the highest level.

I know which I prefer....but like I said, it's your cash.

I don't want it to look like I'm trying to ruffle a few feathers here, I'm genuinely trying to save you some cash. Hopefully you've taken it the way it's intended....just take your time, whatever the decision. Right I'm withdrawing from this thread...good day to you all.... :)

It comes down to the 3970X, X79, 32GB quad-channel vs 3770K, Z77, 16GB dual-channel. It's true that the first setup is significantly more powerful than the second, however both have far more power than is needed for gaming (and recording games) at present. What I suspect is that by the time you get to a point where the X79 setup would continue to run games acceptably but the Z77 spec wouldn't, the whole machine will be ready for replacement anyway.

What you could do is get a £1600 PC now (and that can be a very high-end rig - you can get an 3770, 16GB, 670 SLI and SSD for that amount) and then get another £1600 PC in 3 or 4 years' time. That way you have far less risk because if technology moves in a direction we can't currently predict you can take that into account when you buy the second machine.

On the other hand, if you go ahead with your current spec, apart from upgrading the PSU as Vanthus suggests, I would also get the "Platinum" warranty.

Hey guys, thanks for all the help I decided in the end to go with this http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/quotes/intel-2011-overclocked/xZpjR2J6Pe/ I realise many will feel its overkill but I may never get to spend this amount on a pc again so my god I am going to enjoy it lol.

It is overkill, for that budget with some adjustments you can probably get 2 x gtx 690s which is going to provide better gaming performance than the spec you posted. You will definitely enjoy the system you chosen.

Looks very familiar to my new rig (check my sig) -- I took the same philosophy as you that this is a once in a 10 year cycle for buying, so I'd stretch the budget as much as possible. On reflection I think I should have gone for 2x 680s rather than the 1 690 and when upgrading it is easier (i.e. more affordable) to add a third 680 and at some point later a fourth, rather than the big save for another 690.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it and it will give you many years of entertainment.

I have the money reserved for a second one as and when I need it ;)

How are you getting on with yours? Met any games that are a match for it yet?

Really enjoying the rig -- so much of a step up from my 9 year old box! Despite checking the dimensions of the case before buying I was a bit shocked by the size, but I've soon got used to it and the space gives great airflow. The fans are quiet and the CPU / GPU remains cool (under 70) even at the end of several hours gaming. Not had any issues with any games yet -- Crysis 3 plays very nicely with everything turned up to max, though I have to dial back a bit when running it over three monitors.

Glad to hear it, was the case bigger than expected then I assume? Glad it stays cool under heavy load, I am only using the one monitor so I can imagine it will barely break a sweat with mine, hours of video editing will be my other main use, will be great to get faster editing finally! Will add you on steam when I get a chance and maybe we can coop some games or something?

You could consider a better mouse keyboard and mouse (maybe not from PCS). Those are very much underkill in your spec, and they are the parts of the system that interface with the most important component :)

Agree tbh I kind of got them as filler for when I am being lazy and need a keyboard that I can take less care with if that makes sense? basically if I want to laze about in bed and play wireless on my tv haha
