I thought that desert one was pretty good, like you said though you can be a bit stranded without a vehicle so it's worth sticking to that middle base for infantry kills or trying to sneak your way around the hills to the other bases.

By the time we were on Altai range I was pretty tired and still had things I needed to do before going to bed so reverted to being a Recon as I was sick of sprinting around everywhere. I thought we had a fantastic match on it, I very rarely sat still but there was plenty of guys to shoot on the ground (rare for a map of that size) and that last base we were fighting for was a proper good battle. I don't know if the same was going on around the rest of the map but everybody seemed pretty caught up in that base. Got a lot of sniper and pistol kills too :D And in my defence, I saw you guys running towards the bloke and didn't think you'd seen him so took him out for you... It's only when a very angry soldier turned around and looked at me that I realised my mistake :D

But yea, they were decent games that worked really well. Would dread to think how they play on previous gen consoles with 24 players though.

I don't know what game you guys are playing but I really don't get why you're having so many issues/negative opinions of the game :saddam:

I genuinely enjoy 4 a lot more than I enjoyed 3 for so many reasons. The servers are better, the maps are better, the guns seem better. BF3 just turned into CQC servers and not a lot else; you can't deny it. We would join servers night after night that played the same flippin maps on the same flippin "3000 TIX CQC NUBZ RULE" servers and you'd just spend hours mindlessly throwing grenades down a corridor or spraying your gun without even really having a tactical objective. Then we'd join a proper server with vehicles and teamplay required but then you'd hate it because it was too slow and you'd be getting pwned by vehicles and would be getting scores 6 from 6 instead of 60 from 60.

I dunno, I guess it's all personal opinion. I just find 9 out of 10 maps on BF4 to be decent ones where people actually have decent battles, even the big vehicles ones. I was on a couple of new ones with Booz last night and I thought they were great fun despite being quite large.

I'd say give it another go but I think your minds are already made up :)

As for the joining squad thing, I've never had issues joining a friends game and quickly jumping into their squad (unless it was full). I'd heard if you invite your friend to the server then it will do its best to get you on the same team and squad. Sounds like one of you may have a strict NAT type or something? :\

There are 10 maps?! Everytime I go on it I seem to end up on Flood Zone or Operation Locker, even if I try and join onto a good map the game always seems to end and changes to Flood Zone...
I've played for about 10h and still only know the names of 2 maps.

On BF3 there are a lot of CQ servers but I'm usually able to get decent rush servers.

I'm trying my best to feel the love for BF4 but everytime I go on it I get mugged off. To me the game seems to be targeted at noobs. I play exactly the same as BF3 but it doesn't work anymore because I get sniped by people hiding on roofs or shot to bits by that overpowered boat on Flood Zone.

Try the British Sergeant's Mess servers mate, that's where I normally am on the Noob server. It has good map rotation (although FZ and OL are on there) and a core of regular players who play teamwork and the objectives.

I get what you mean about the snipers, it is a really big gripe of mine. The thing I've found is though that once they've shown their hand they're pretty easy to take out either by flanking them and taking their tags, the Airburst and SRAW to name a few. A lot of players though will play up close shooting from the hip which of course is a one hit kill and that really is annoying. If you're in a squad working together you've got a lot less chance of constantly being picked off, the teamwork really is a great aspect of the BSM servers (plus they've set a sniper limit on their Hardcore server) and you get a lot more satisfaction out of it. Plus they have their own Teamspeak server to make things even better.

I only need four more kills with the Carbon Fiber for a service star and was already celebrating that one when I saw a bullet fly through his head!

For a bit of a laugh I've decided to run my own BF4 server for a month or so. Currently I'm running it as a 300 ticket / 32 player TDM with an 8 map rotation (no Flood Zone or Dawnbreaker) and 4 spectator slots -- the server is called "[OA] 32 Player - 300 Ticket - 24/7 TDM Madness" and you'll need to go to the 'Advance' options on the game browser and select 'Custom' to see it. Alternatively have a look at the server page here:

If enough people here want a different config I'm more than happy to change it... As long as you jump on! Just let me know what you fancy.

Cheers,
Ian

I couldn't have described it better, it was a fantastic shot.

My performance was pretty grim last night. Especially having my laptop on powersave and getting about 20fps was doing my head in till i noticed.

I usually play as as Recon with a carbine and only take out the sniper if someone is needing a bullet to the heed.

I use the laser designation a lot but no missiles ever seem to be launched by other players so it may be a waste of time even doing that technique but it you have the sniper and the goggles its easy to find targets.

LAst nights spawns were bad for me a lot of times i would spawn in a friendly location and get hit in the back.

You didn't do too bad Smoke :)

Laser designations are great as long as you have a few people actually taking advantage of it. It even works if people aren't firing rockets though as the tank gets the 'lock-on' alert and starts panicking; I've cleared bases of tanks before just by getting them to back off and then our guys roll in.

I had a lot of fun last, got a couple of decent games in and so almost got some MVP medals which I haven't come close to doing on 64 player servers before. I'm just struggling to focus on a class at the moment; completed the service stars for assault and engineer but struggling to play well with Support and I get called a cheat when I go Recon even though I still cap loads of bases :( Then I stand still for one minute just to have an overview of a base and all of a sudden I'm a camper, blah blah.

I saw you at the top of the leader board a few times with a great K/D Ratio.

I find the assault class a bit boring at the moment just haven't unlocked anything for it yet. I find sniping easier on this one though but need to get a better rifle. I must admit i do camp a little bit but usually move after getting one kill as someone will know where i am after that. I think i will stick to the Recon because i prefer to be support character. Plus i have a lot of fun with C4 and tanks but usually get too excited and blow myself up along with the tank because dont wait long enough to run a way lol.

Im using the battle screen too but it wasn't working for me at all last night.

Yea assault is a bit dull at times but the rifles are pretty awesome to be fair. Stick with the starting sniper if you can, that's what I'm using and it's a lot better once you get the straight bolt pull (means you don't have to come out of zoom) and also the 14x variable scope. Just remember whenever you zoom into your scope the enemies will see a very bright light so it's worth trying to scout an area first and then only zoom in once you see somebody or alternatively just scope in and out very quickly while you're checking areas to avoid being seen. C4 often ends in suicide so don't worry too much about that :D

Hmmm I haven't used battlescreen for a couple of days, perhaps it was just a 'turn it off and on' again fix required..

Yeah i usually find my target with the goggles mark him (Q) then quickly zoom, take the shot, confirm kill and hide then move.

I think the goggles perhaps give away position to though tanks sometime hunt me out.

Hmmm, watch United in the league cup, or play battlefield... Hmmmm... First world problems.

United are worse than Spurs this season so got to be Battlefield. By the way, I'm so disappointed that AVB got sacked, such a big mistake.

Aye, they were in a decent position in all competitions really; could have won some silverware I reckon. I suppose it was just his poor attitude and almost child-like reactions to the press. I don't know how you can lose a player like Bale, replace him with something like 7 foreign players that may be equal in value but not equal in ability, and then expect them all to have gelled after 6 months. I know if I get a new job it takes me longer than 6 months to settle in... can't imagine what moving to a different country for work is like.

I guess he just didn't have the attitude to make the team play properly though.

I joined 1 game last night, got stroppy and rage quit.
Not sure why but I keep on getting it where I go outside and all the background flickers like mad, I've tried dropping all the settings but still getting issues. SLI issues maybe?

Grimezy

Prolific Poster
Could be SLI... What class are you using? I find if I snipe and zoom into my scope the scenery goes whacky. Textures fly all over the place and colours are really off. I just try to ignore it though.

I wish you'd get good at BF4 already and stop whining, we used to have some awesome games together on BF3 :(
