Battlefield 4

How did you get in touch with them about it mate?

Through EA support, on the live chat. Who couldn't fix it so I've got to wait for an email from specialist support. Should be fun -_-

And Tom, its a beta not a demo. You shouldn't judge the game on a beta, they can change the whole mechanics of the game in a month if need be.

I'm still with Tom on this one guys, feels very COD'y and I decided to snipe last night as we were sat up on a roof and what the heck have they done to it?! It doesn't feel like sniping is meant to at all! It all just feels bouncy and naff and the big line that comes out that follows the bullet is just like the Halo days again. But yea, I suppose we shouldn't judge it by a beta, but they seriously need to fix the performance issues because I'm struggling like mad to get a decent game. Was on like 15 kills for 5 deaths last night, all of a sudden I'm getting like 5fps and constantly dying even though I can barely move.

Just a quick note, when trying to play yesterday it kept telling me I needed to install punkbuster even though I already had it. After a quick google I discovered that I needed to copy and paste my 'pb' folder from my BF3 files over to my BF4 Beta folder. Just thought I'd mention it incase it happens to anybody else!

And now I'm cut off from BF4 in Battlelog completely as they're preparing for the full beat access. So I've had 1 hour's access after qualifying for the early access, if I'd paid for the Digital Deluxe I'd be livid.

Ok so I finally got on just now, and I think its quite fun, ive only played 5 minutes so far though. The performance is terrible though, I know I shouldn't have to put my settings to medium on my setup this needs to be fixed. My GPUs are both at about 50% usage and there is a small bit of VRAM free, so it should be running ok.

yes it is a beta, although it's also very clever marketing and in my opinion is pretty much a demo labeled as a "beta". Sure there's a few issues here and there, but it is just clever marketing.

Bf3 alpha and beta gameplay was pretty much actual bf3 gameplay. Bf4 just doesn't feel right.

... just cancelled my preorder. :(

any reason dude?

It depends on the game though, if they have the formula right then they won't change it, ive played betas where it changes completely. I played the Crysis 2 beta and loved it, and when it came to release it had changed and I didn't like it. Same with Medal of Honor 2010. And I didn't like the BF3 beta much, but enjoyed the finished game quite a bit more.

The thing with BF4 is aren't they using the same engine as BF3? So realistically unless they revert it completely back to BF3 gameplay then it's not really going to change much from the beta is it... And if they do that then BF4 is just going to be a glorified map pack.

I do think they've tried to tweak it areas to make it 'feel' like a different game, but realistically they're tweaks in movement and stuff that weren't required, like when I strafe left and right my guy like completely bends one way like he's trying to look round a corner... What's all that about?

Finally got around to playing it...played the city map. My 1st thoughts were that I don't like all this damned smoke but I realised I had started after the tall building had collapsed.

I quite enjoyed it, although I agree it feels weird and I thought it looked a bit 'washed out'. Ran really well on high settings with my single GTX680. Ultra was too jittery though. My main thoughts throughout were 1) Where are all the open areas? (obviously this is map specific) and 2) Damn this reminds of Crysis 2. ALOT.

Not sure I see the point in overplaying the beta though. Anyway if I see any of you playing I'll hop in.

I'm in two minds whether to cancel my pre-order to be honest. It's decent and I don't dislike it, but I'm finding myself preferring BF3 still and I wonder how much I'll actually play it. I got hooked on BF3 pretty quickly and invested a lot of time into it but I just don't feel the same with BF4. I know it's only a beta and like I say I don't dislike it, I just don't think I'll spend a lot of time on it and probably wouldn't mind waiting until it gets offered at a better price.

BF3 uses Frostbite 2 and BF4 uses Frostbite 3 a fully updated version of the engine

EDIT: Is anyone else getting serious performance issues this morning? I'm playing on the lowest settings and im still getting frame drops and my GPUs are both at about 40% nowhere near full memory either. But I can say that even on low settings this game looks pretty damn amazing

I think 4 is a lot more faithful to 2 than 3 ever was. 3 was never a true sequel to 2. The UI was awful and squad management sucked. with 4 they have brought back clickable live battlemaps where you can click in to a spawn point.

I like it, Pre order staying in place, I think they are optimizing it as they go as it was really quite choppy at 1st but after a few days i was able to increase the settings without impacting the frame rate too much.

I totally agree...so far I prefer BF3. But then I remembered how much I hated the BF3 beta. It was awful. It put all my mates off buying it & I spent the next 6 months telling them how good the full game was.

You see I enjoyed the BF3 beta quite a bit, and therefore went and bought the game. With BF4 I'm getting bored after 10 minutes of playing. Perhaps the FPS genre is just getting a bit stale? I haven't been able to get into a decent online FPS for months now even though normally they're my favourite kind...

I know what the problem is , and thats because they churn em out every year or other year now. BF3 was long overdue but was a bit of a let down in comparison to BF2. Plus Bad company diluted the water somewhat. And with COD spewing the same tripe EVERY year its no suprise that you'll get fatigue from the genre. Playing Starcraft 2 again right now and enjoying it. :)

The thing is the only person here buying COD Ghosts will be Keedar :)

Hey there was just curious about how well my pc could run this after it ran BF3 beautifully. I was shocked to see this beta perform poorly on my rig and I know its a beta but I did expect more.

I currently have a GTX570, i5 2500 cpu, 8 gig of ram.

I have installed the latest beta drivers (331.40)

Any suggestions? Other than upgrade my pc lol.
