A realistic delivery estimate for a Build that has everything in stock except an RTX3090?

I’m a terrible worrier!

So say by some stroke of luck there is a shipment of Strix 3090’s to PCS next week that covers all current pre-orders including mine and all the other parts of my build are also in stock meaning my build should start picking and move to the building stage. What happens if my Customer supplied case still hasnt arrived and wont for a further couple of weeks?

Will PCS hold my parts till the case arrives to them potentially a couple of weeks later or will they release my parts back into the queue and I’d have missed my chance and would then have to wait till the next batch of 3090’s were delivered?

Sending a case shouldnt take that long... few days I would of though?
Depends where you order it from of course, but I would expect there to be delivery options that would get it there in a few days, not weeks.

Not if I can’t find it anywhere atm and a certain competitor is showing ETA of more stock on 28/4/21.

So for example, I read a rumour in another thread that there might be a shipment of Strix3090’s arriving to PCS mid April, so if I couldn’t get an O11 Dynamic case till the very end of April at the earliest, then there is a potential 2+ weeks where PCS would have to reserve my parts for me before building. So I’m just wondering if anybody knows whether they’d actually do that or would they release the parts back to the queue after a few days of no case and I’d miss my window and have to wait for the next Strix3090 shipment.

[Side-Note] Theres actually a question mark about whether the competitors hold on orders/shipment to Ireland in January was a temporary thing till Brexit related Customs/Vat procedures were put in place or whether it was permanent. (Awaiting clarification from them). Ironically, this shipping to PCS instead of me in Ireland thing might actually side-step the potential shipment ban to Ireland from this particular company. PCS would effectively become my international case re-shipper. LOL. However an Irish shipment ban if it still exists would prevent me ordering the Kraken Z73, 9x Corsair QL120 fans and iCue Commander Pro from them and I would have to source them elsewhere.

Update

Amended the order online again to a 1000w Corsair 1000RMx PSU.

Then rang PCS to remove the case and switch to Customer supplied.

Turned into a very long phone call and if he's reading I'd like to thank PCSpecialists' CS agent Martin W. for his help and patience.

Turns out that Brexit, VAT and import duty means that Irish (Eire) Customers cannot now send their own cases to PCS because then PCS would be subject to import duty or a complicated paperwork headache for the customers case coming to the UK from Ireland. Even if there was no financial cost to PCS it sounds like a complicated bureaucratic nightmare of Customs forms, exemptions and waivers etc needing to be filled out. I completely understand why PCS can no longer offer this service to Irish customers.

However, as we in this thread already know, I was never shipping my own case from Ireland to the UK. I was going to be ordering the case from another vendor in the UK, paying UK VAT and having it shipped to PCS.

Martin had to do a lot of leg work back and forth to the production department to confirm that the case I would be supplying would accept the parts I had ordered for my build. I knew it would, but they needed convincing before they sanctioned anything. Then Martin needed to liaise with another relevant department to clarify the VAT implications. ie. I would have to provide proof that I had indeed paid UK VAT to the UK Vendor of the case.

Eventually that department came up with a compromise solution which is that PCS will order the case from that other Vendor on my behalf thus ensuring that full UK VAT has been paid and then they will add the cost of the case to my total build cost. So I'm happy and they are happy.

That said, for all I know given that PCS do actually sell the Black XL sized version of my desired Lian Li O11 Dynamic Midi Tower White case in the Liquid Cooled Configurator (its just out of stock) perhaps what PCS will actually do is special order the Mid Tower White version for me from their usual Lian Li 'Dynamic' supplier/distributor and make that profit margin themselves rather than gifting it to the other Vendor. TBH, I have no problem with that either...as long as I get the case I actually want.

So thats the latest. Big shout-out to Martin again for his help and patience on that phone call today and a re-iteration of my thanks to all the contributors to this thread who have been a great help in refining this PC spec. My experience so far in my dealings with PCS has been great. Long may it continue and if everything goes well from here on out I would have no hesitation in recommending PCS to other Irish or UK PC buyers/builders whenever I post about my system on forums in future and am asked where I got it.

[EDIT] I've edited out all the times I typed Andrew instead of Martin in this post. At least I got the Martin in the 'Shout-outs' correct. Its not like I talked to an Andrew at PCS on a previous call. My last call to PCS was dealt with in an equally shout-out worthy manner by Hussain. My brothers name is Andrew so that must be it. LOL.

That's amazing! PCS really do go all out. I'm happy to hear of the great experience so far, although I'm not totally surprised ;)

Now that thats all sorted and I got confirmation from the other vendor about how to go about ordering the other parts I need to complete this build......well I can get ordering those other bits!!

(Order from other UK Vendor over phone where they can charge my Irish VISA the ex. UK VAT price and get it shipped via DHL who are set up to collect the relevant Irish VAT and Import Duties, not their normal courier DPD. They haven't implemented this option on the website for Irish customers as of yet so atm it has to be done over the phone)

So that order will be the NZXT Kraken Z73 AIO, 10x Corsair Black Framed QL120 RGB Fans and a Corsair iCUE Commander Pro. Theres probably a few other bits and pieces like PWN Y fan splitter cables or another PWM Fan controller because I want to do a Push/Pull configuration on the 360mm Radiator utilising 3 of the Corsair QL120 RGB fans on the inside of the case but the 3x NZXT Rad fans on the back of the Radiator where they will be hidden in the PSU side of this 'Split-Compartment' style case.

I'll also be ordering Black&White CableMod PSU cables and White Sleeving for the AIO rubber Tubes. I'll also be ordering several cans of White Plasti-Dip paint as I intend paint parts of the Strix3090 shroud white as well as the Kraken Z73 Pump Block, My current main PC White Corsair Air540 case is going to become my new Media Server case with 18 Hotswap HDD bays with the 6700K/Z170-a/16gb Dominator Platinum and my LSI HBA SAS/SATA cards being mounted unconventionally on the PSU side of this Split-Compartment design (a form-factor idea that Lian Li copied for the O11 Dynamics). No GPU for the Media Server and the HBA cards have no PCI brackets so the Motherboard can be mounted unconventionally rotated above the PSU. Because I also have a second Donor Air540 I can take the Clear Side panel off of that and just need to plasti-dip it white to match the rest of the case and bobs your uncle, an Air540 with clear side panels on both sides. One side highlighting the 18x HDD bays and the other side Highlighting the CPU/Mobo/Cooler (Whichever cooler I measure to fit)

You are going to laugh at this but I've been using 2x DNS323 Nas boxes since 2007. I was planning to retire them in 2013/14 and started acquiring parts like a Black Air540 case and 9x 3-Bay Corsair Hotswap caddies in 2013. Life got in the way several times and that project never happened. Those 2 little DNS323 Nas boxes still Live!!.......14 years after buying them. Only now after 120,000 hours of Always On use have those little 40mm fans start to give up the ghost and only now am I finally getting around to building their replacement!!

That said in the intervening years I did find the time to model some ideas in sketchup and render them. A bit too unrealistic in many ways but the core ideas are in those renders, its just the cooling will be a lot simpler and it won't be a game streaming server as well as media, just a pure media server and won't be an insane 27 bays (that would have fit though) but will instead be a more 'modest' 18 HDD bays.

Anyway, heres the renders. Not bad for a self employed Newsagent with no CG experience if I do say so myself. LOL

Trying out different desk configurations in Sketchup tonight...

The Last two are just different angles of the same render. The last render is basically how my IKEA Hack Desk is configured right now except with the O11 Dynamic in the Conventional upright orientation unlike my current Corsair Air 540 in the unconventional 'on its side' orientation. Involves the least amount of work or extra IKEA parts to be bought and I think I actually still like it the best. Great that I was able to learn that lesson virtually with Sketchup rather than only learning it after a back breaking day and night reconfiguring the desk in real life :D

[EDIT 1] OMG :unsure::unsure::unsure:

Just remembered that PCS were supposed to change my placeholder case to the O11 Dynamic XL ROG in Black that they use for their Liquid Series but which afaik is still not in stock. So unless they just got a delivery of those cases too, my order may have gone to building in the placeholder case instead of the one I told PCS I actually want!!

[EDIT 2] Still, this is great news even if my order gets pulled back out of the Build Queue to wait for the delivery of the O11 Dynamic XL cases to PCS because at least it means all the other components of my order are in stock and likely reserved now by sitting waiting in the corner of the Build assembly room in the placeholder case waiting to be transferred into the O11 when its back in stock.

Update (though I’ve posted this in other threads):

PCS did in fact have the O11 Dynamic XL Black back in stock and my order went to the Build Phase yesterday and is in the Testing phase today Fri. 16th.

Woohoo!! :D:D:D

So to answer the question I posed at the beginning of this thread, ie. whats a realistic estimate for a build with an RTX3090?

Well, about 2 weeks as it turns out! ie. beyond my wildest expectations! Bravo PCS!!! :D

Slightly disappointed that my order didn't ship today Monday despite hitting Dispatch stage on Friday. A day or two more in Dispatch stage and the 2-3 day FEDEX shipping to Ireland might push delivery into next week.

Which shipping option did you select for delivery to Ireland? Do you go for the route from UK to France to UK to Ireland, which seems to be the FedEx standard?

Order shipped a few minutes ago.

Tracking says ETA Thursday but maybe that'll turn out to be 'Jeudi' ???
