Hello
Monitor: 1440 is preferable. This Benq EX2780Q (27", 2560x1440, 144Hz, IPS)
Usage: Work and gaming (Photoshop etc, Blender (hobbyist), AAA gaming titles, no streaming, VR is nice to have but not essential)
Budget: £1500 +/- £100 (monitor is not included in budget and will be an extra expense). I'd rather spend closer to £1400, but £1600 at a push.
GPU: From my research I gather that the RTX 3080 will be overkill. The 3070 is probably ideal, but unavailable. So that leaves the 3070Ti. Some people say the 3060Ti is good. I don't know. For someone that peers into this space once a decade or so, it is exhausting looking at all the options and terminology! Anyhoo, I've based the build around the 3070Ti. More than happy to be educated into a different direction.
CPU: Well, I've been trawling through the forums looking at other peoples' builds. The 3070Ti seems to be paired with the 5600X with good reactions. I've no idea TBH, other than I read that it's better to put money into GPU than CPU.
Case: It'll be under my desk, so ugly isn't a problem. I picked the cheapest option that fits the 3070Ti. However, I read that airflow is important for component longevity. I've no idea if this case is sufficient.
Power: The PCS configurator suggested 650w but I read that the Corsair 750W RM(x) is highly recommended. Again, I don't know.
Cooling: I've no idea. I went with the default standard cooling.
OS: I'll be running Linux. Before I pull the trigger on a build I will need to research compatibility. I don't mind some tinkering but hopefully it's not a complete nightmare.
Thank you so much for reading
