Hmmm, would 500GB be enough, I probably wasn't clear enough, I do have some of my newer games in my SSD, but HDD isn't used for many games from the past 5 years. I think empire total war is the newest game I have on that drive. Can't deny that red dead 2 does take a while for the first load.
Awesome, thanks for the detailed reply!
My build has an SSD, boot times are still below 5 seconds, how much more is an M2 drive? I can't see any need to reduce a 5 sec boot time.
12th Gen does look impressive, saw the I3 12400 even has good benchmarks.
Hdd shouldn't really be used for games...
Well, I have 1440p 244hz, which i don't really need, i haven't played FPS in a long time. I think with the games she plays, 1440p 120hz would do fine (don't actually have a specific one yet), and 4k is 100% overboard in my book.
I do, I'm looking for my GF. She doesn't want to go Overboard, but after the issues with my build thought I'd run it through you guys and go back to a company that knows how to fit fans properly.
Personally, don't get me wrong I am no expert & pretty new to the PC gaming world myself (about 2 years), I'm not sure if you can put an OS on a secondary Hard drive, might want to swap those around.
I'm more of an NVIDIA guy so someone else will have to comment on your GPU (Flight sims are GPU...
Just want to make sure i'm not going overboard in a certain area and ignoring another. Any advice is welcome. Budget couple hundred over what this build would cost.
Case
PCS PRISM TG BLACK ARGB MID TOWER CASE

Hmmm, I'll give it a go. Thanks for the tip.
I get you don't want to potential give bad advice for a non PCS system, but come on, airflow doesn't change depending on who built it. I've decided on one intake and one exhaust, installed the fans today. Temps looking good after a few stress tests...
Lol no. This was the time when everywhere was out of stock about 1 year ago. I have bought from PCSPECIALIST in the past but on this occasion they didn't have the GPU I was after. I think considering the amount I've spent with them before I'm entitled to a bit of free IT advice.
Hi guys,
Had a prebuild, as it was the only way to get a RTX card. Anyway, was playing Red Dead 2 the other day and noticed my case was hot, started monitoring the temps and noticed GPU temp at 67 (fine, happy with that) and CPU was hovering around 80, peaking at 85. This I am not happy about...
Not yet! I am working as I'm posting back to you guys, bit short of time at the moment! And to be honest, 3070 availability is so low it might be a month or 2 before I get my hands on any new build... You think it will last me the 4-5 years?
The most multi tasking I do is putting a fancy space backgroud video on youtube on my 2nd screen while gaming on the other, which I have there since I am working from home with the covid pandemic, comes in handy though when I can watch youtube all day and work on the other screen ;)
I suppose, the one question I haven't asked, whether it is the I5 or the 5600x, will it last me 4-5 years on High 1440p, 60+ FPS before I need to spend a similar amount to catch up again? Not many AAA games purchased to consider.
Sorry, think we replied very close together, wasn't ignoring the comment. MSFS...potentially in 6 months when the prices drop, I rarely buy new games.
Yeah, I mean, FPS I want solid above 60! But it isn't like I am looking for 144fps for that perfect FPS experience....just realised both...
I was into Total war up until Shogun 2! I still play empire every now and then! But too streamlined nowadays. HOI4 come 1945 though will be a test for any CPU so it is worth looking into. Appreciated!
Thanks for the feedback guys. So seeing as the AMD build was slightly more expensive, as it is just for gaming, no heavy workloads or streaming, the 5600x is the way to go? Coupled with a 3070? The 3070 seems too good to miss out on.
I thought that, but as I'm not an expert, (my CPU and GPU knowledge is good, but others parts aren't up to scratch) I didn't want someone one the otherside of the fence (Intel hater), coming along and dropping the quality of the other parts just to get a cheaper system (Not that I think a...
Correct Mr Bigfoot! Budget, I will push to £2k, but anything lower would be nice of course. 27" QHD monitor (1440p) 240hz.
Edit: I don't really play FPS games, so I am happy with 60+ FPS at 1440p as I don't think it makes much of a difference for the sort of games I play.
Edit 2: The only AAA...
