Hello Spyder,
Sorry not to update.
The Fn key problem was RMA'd, returned for repair in July and repaired (I believe they replaced the keyboard). And it has worked fine since. The cursor/arrow key issue is new - well, as of a couple of months ago. I've lived with it since but my patience (not...
Keyboard started playing up again - the cursor keys. They are doing all sorts of odd things in all manner of applications.
Pressing a cursor key, or sometimes holding it down, can cause the active window to snap to the left or right of the screen, minimise to the taskbar then maximise again; or...
Yes and no. I have a PCSL desktop with decent monitor but that is not always available (dual-use desk and continuing home working) so there are many occasions when, at present, the 14" Lafite is used and that brings significant screen compromises. I frequently over-sharpen at 14" and it looks...
Spidertracks: I have a 14" Lafite and am very happy with that as a smaller laptop. Do I understand correctly that the Ionico is also Clevo? I have since discovered that Recoil is Tongfang and I have also discovered the inconsistencies of typing on their keyboard. In this current problem I have...
In their position I'd probably take the laptop back as it disguises the fact that they are doing nothing and / or have no ideas. At the moment, I have reset Windows and put the laptop back in the box. Seems to me that it will inevitably go back. I've been told to expect contact within three days...
Funny you should say that - I did wonder and also had the thought that installing a much older version of Control Center might help with the fault-finding. It may not enable all the correct, current functions but if it were to make FN available and resolve F9 then that would be a strong...
Yes. They initially said they had not experienced this issue before then stated that they had one in the workshop with the same problems. They obtained and installed a BIOS upgrade but that did not apparently resolve the issue. At the moment, technical has passed it over the customer services so...
I did order Windows Home with the laptop.
I ran Windows setup then went to updates and kept clicking 'check' until it told me I was up to date. I then installed Vivaldi Browser and Bitdefender anti-virus. It was at that point that I discovered the problem. After that I changed language and...
When I look at that edge of the keyboard while applying a little gentle pressure through the hole, the centre edge of the keyboard lifts slightly but not enough to get a fingernail beneath. I'm not going to apply more pressure without I can find out that I need to and how much pressure to apply.
Martinr36 -Yes, I wondered that and then wondered if there were additional cover securing screws to be removed from under the keyboard. All my other laptops over the years have had either a cover over the disk and/or memory or the whole cover removes once all screws are removed.
Thank you to both bastet and andjef796 for your posts. The battery is internal and inaccessible until the cover is removed. The rear cover is dished and does not lend itself to sliding (though I did try!). In fact, when you lift the edges, it is clear that components sit within the dish, as you...
I have a Lafité Series: Aluminium Chassis: 14" Matte Full HD IPS LED with an additional mechanical hard drive (which I understand is a regular 2.5" SATA). I'd like to replace it with a solid state drive. I've removed twelve screws - ten from around the edges, one from more or less the centre and...
