    PCSPECIALIST 15.6" INITIA AMD - Working 99%

I found a module that allows one to control the keyboard backlight, so that's all good. Can change colours and everything. Seems the suspend issue is linked to the BIOS not advertising that S3 is available. Maybe a kernel update can fix that (has done for some in the past).

PCSPECIALIST S3 sleep supported on 15.6" INITIA AMD?

Does anyone know if the 15.6" INITIA AMD supports S3 sleep? I've installed Linux on the system and it's mostly working just fine, but the system claims that S3 sleep (suspend to RAM, basically) isn't supported. I'm aware that Microsoft is advocating a new kind of sleep state, meaning that S3...

    PCSPECIALIST 15.6" INITIA AMD - Working 99%

Okay, I installed the latest available kernel and that fixed the screen brightness issue. The keyboard is always still lit, however, even when using suspend. Suspend no longer has the flashing cursor, but I'm not sure if it's in deep sleep. Doesn't seem to be. Otherwise, the rest of it is...

    PCSPECIALIST 15.6" INITIA AMD - Working 99%

All, I got my Initia AMD yesterday and installed Mint 20.1 on it. Installed great straight out of the box. There's a handful of issues that I'm trying to iron out, if any one is able to help. 1. Brightness controls don't work (using Cinnamon desktop). 2. Keyboard is always lit (blue). 3...

PCSPECIALIST Build date vs delivery date

Hi all, The laptop that I've ordered currently has a build date of 17th December. What I'm wondering is does that mean everything will be completed on 17th (build, testing, etc) and ready for shipping the next day? Or does the build date precede the testing phase? The date is close to...

    PCSPECIALIST More AMD benchmarks

Would love for PCS to start offering AMD based laptops. I don't think it'll happen any time soon, unfortunately.

    PCSPECIALIST Unable to install Linux

Glad I held off on buying a laptop with an NVME drive. I think the best advice for Linux users right now is to stick with regular SSDs. In all honestly, I'm not sure the performance gain from an NVME is worth it? I've seen videos on YouTube of some people loading games and the difference is...

Did you order with or without Windows? How did you install Linux? Is USB boot enabled? Is it possible to download and install from a live USB..?

    PCSPECIALIST Ubuntu 19.10 (Eoan Ermine)

I'm probably going to be getting a new laptop in the new year. Do you know if 5Ghz wifi is supported on the Intel AX200? Part of the reason I'm getting a new laptop is due to my current one only supporting 2.4Ghz wifi and the interference from other (2.4Ghz) access points in the neighbourhood...

PCSPECIALIST Ice Lake CPUs in 2020?

I've been following the news that Intel is shipping their new Ice Lake CPUs right now, for purchase in consumer units later in the year. What are the chances we'll be able to build custom laptops with these new CPUs in 2020? I'd be interested in getting on in a 14" LAFITÉ III specifically.
