PCSPECIALIST Anyone got a Herman Miller Logitech Embody?

Looks a beefy box! I did indeed, hopefully will be here in a couple of weeks. I feel pained at the dent in bank balance though!

PCSPECIALIST 5950x 90 Degree Under Load?

Cheers @NoddyPirate I think we're back in business! Temps are looking fine now under load, within Cinebench R23 and Time Spy. I'm not entirely sure it's boosting to as high frequency as I've seen previously, but I'm sure in real-world use it wouldn't be noticeable. Thank you for your help...

PCSPECIALIST 5950x 90 Degree Under Load?

Thanks, I grabbed the latest drivers from the AMD site but I’ll uninstall and review tomorrow. I also heard that this power option is unnecessary for these chips, as Windows now has built in Ryzen power refinement options.

PCSPECIALIST 5950x 90 Degree Under Load?

Ah, it was going so well! Made the changes above, opened up RM and enabled overdrive, back up to almost touching the limit:

PCSPECIALIST 5950x 90 Degree Under Load?

That makes perfect sense, I’ve undone the under volting now too, settings shown below also, which does match the RAM specification (y) Forgot to say, plan is on AMD Ryzen Balanced

PCSPECIALIST 5950x 90 Degree Under Load?

Just about to take a quick look at this, I'll bow to your knowledge in this area, my understanding was that auto doesn't necessarily mean enabled, are we doing this to roll back to default settings? The undervolting was done through the PBO Curves Optimiser, under the advanced menu (y)

PCSPECIALIST 5950x 90 Degree Under Load?

Right-o, here we go, screenshot dump incoming! Extreme Tweaker has one reference to PBO - Enabled Expanding confirms this is now set to enabled (under volting removed from manual menu entry) Advanced has another reference to PBO - also set to enabled RM now shows as default...

PCSPECIALIST 5950x 90 Degree Under Load?

Thanks for this I’ll take a look this evening. I’m starting to wonder if Asus AI Tweak has done more harm than good as part of its automated performance optimisations.

PCSPECIALIST 5950x 90 Degree Under Load?

Thanks for your input @NoddyPirate I really appreciate it. I've re-run a benchmark with Cinebench R23, and with PBO enabled (but the frequency not going over stock) the temps look far better: I guess one of the next steps is to try a single core benchmark run, rather than multi-core, and see...

Damn, PBO set to disabled, but undervolting left on. Will have another crack after work 👍

PCSPECIALIST 5950x 90 Degree Under Load?

I've disabled everything OC / PBO related in the bios, and the temps now look better. Interestingly enough, the CPU temps were sat at around 80-85c at 4600MHz, and then it backed down to below stock, per the screenshot below: I'm not sure why it would reduce the clock speed with the Prime 95...

PCSPECIALIST 5950x 90 Degree Under Load?

If it is in the 130-140 Watt ballpark - probably showing as a % of 142 W under PPT in Ryzen Master - then I would suggest you have a bad paste job on the cooler as that AIO is more than able to handle that CPU. My PPT value shows 395, TDC shows 255 - guess that answers that! Coolant temp 33...

PCSPECIALIST 5950x 90 Degree Under Load?

Nah this isn't overclocked, and I've updated the BIOS to the latest available stable release, in part to remove PCS branding, but also to allow for resizable bar support.
