I would appreciate your opinion on this spec. Use: office (not gaming)

I have doubts in particular on:
- case (I am looking for something as quiet as possible)
- choice of mortherboard
- power supply (again looking for sthg quiet)

@Gavras has specced you an M.2 SSD, this will be the main system disc (C drive) and is way faster than a standard SSD so the OS and programs will load a lot faster, he's also included a normal HDD which you use for just storing documents etc on

Office setup, is for the usual office desk jockey, interacting with things like O365 and very light photo use etc.

As soon as you start doing dev work, increased photo shop etc, then ideally you want more than a basic Office 365 PC.

unfortunately the term Office PC covers a multitude of possibilities, one of my team has a pretty much a home server and 6 screens for his ‘office’ work.

a few of my team in last job, their Office work pc’’s were for heavy industrial CAD work, with large memory, CAD specific GFX card and 4K screens.

it depends how much CPU and GPU grunt you need at moment and what you likely require in 2 years time.


Also, your PC budget is not aligned with getting a 1440p screen.

you would need ideally to increase your graphics card.

Finger in the air, 1440p PC is £1600 ish.

I have made a few changes to my planned configuration:

- Case: the selection of cases is more limited now and the Corsair 275Q I was looking to get is no longer available. I am thinking of sending you separately a Fractal Define R6 - I believe this shouldn't be a problem but please let me know otherwise.

- M2 SSD: I went for a higher capacity with the 1TB Intel 665p.

I would appreciate if you could let me know if you see any issues with this.

The Intel 665p has half the write endurance of an equivalent Samsung 980 Pro (300 TBW Intel, 600 TBW Samsung for a 1 TB drive). Also, the read and write speeds are nothing special. You might as well select the PCS M.2 drive, if the Samsung is not in your budget.
