Was going to ask if there was anything other than USB4 as standard on these over the X670/X670E...but saw a Puget Systems breakdown which makes more sense...

AMD X870E vs X870 vs X670E vs X670 vs B650E vs B650

AMD has announced their latest generation of motherboard chipsets. How do the X870 and X870E compare to the X670 and B650 chipsets?

  • A620 becomes B840 (USB3.2; PCIe3 NVMe/GPU)
  • B650 becomes B850 (USB3.2; PCIe5 NVMe; PCIe4 GPU)
  • B650 becomes X870 (USB4; PCIe5 NVMe/GPU)
  • X670/E becomes X870E (USB4; PCIe5 NVMe/GPU;more USB)

Yes, I think they are only beneficial for people who need really ultra fast connectivity or high-end enthusiast users; older chipsets will remain a solid choice for the typical user. :)

If ASRock maintains the same circumstances as prior chipsets, I believe the Taichi LITE will be the best value.
All that is left is to wait for the first third-party reviews. :)

I got an ASRock this time round, I wanted an X670e Taichi but just couldn’t get my head around the price. Settled for the Steel Legend in the end which was an excellent compromise.

I have been watching ASRock over the last 4 years or so very closely, they are extremely over engineered boards and only in a good way. They lack some of the flair of the more mainstream manufacturers like no windows BIOS flash utility, but this is unquestionably the most solid board I’ve ever owned.

They also now do the Taichi Light range which are Taichis but without the RGB and fancy heatsinks which tends to knock off about £100 off the board cost

I do love a bit of RGB bling, but much prefer the non-RGB motherboards for some reason. They feel a lot cleaner, so the Lite could be the way I go. The Nova and the Riptide, which will be a bit more budget friendly, look solid too.

I watched some of the ASRock content from Computex and was very impressed.

BUT...PCS configurator is asking £5 LESS for the X870E version.

Wow! I was expecting it to be far more of an increase for x870e
