Worth the wait for Nvidia 30x0?

Hello all,

After recently watching the Nvidia reveal earlier today I was wondering whether it is worth getting a 3070 with the Ryzen 7 3800x or waiting for the price to drop and get the 2070 Super. Also I was thinking about upgrading the RAM from 16GB to 32GB if I was getting the 3070 or is that not needed, along with upgrading the processor to maybe a Ryzen 9. Any suggestions would be much appreciated :)

GPU has no influence on RAM

all depends what monitor you’re pairing with?

Looking at the specs they've released the 3070 will blow the 2070 super away - it's supposed to be as or more powerful than the 2080 ti.

I'm in a similar boat and am gonna wait and either pick up the 2070 super/2080 when the prices go down or go for the 3070 on release. It's only a couple months to wait. If you're getting an entirely new rig (as I am) you could get everything but, stick your own GPU in there and then upgrade when the new ones release which is what I am considering at the moment.

Yeah I'm getting a whole new rig as I am giving my old one to a mate but I don't think its worth getting a 2070 Super for a couple of weeks before I have to replace it with the 3070, or do you think they're going to be very limited and sell out very quick. Might be a while until i get my hands on one of those ;/

Looking to buy the ViewSonic Elite XG240R for my monitor, or is there is a different monitor you would recommend for 144Hz gaming?
That's 1080p which really doesn't have any place in gaming anymore, it's a dead resolution fully and completely.

You want to be looking at 1440p 240Hz or 1440 ultrawide or 4k 144Hz really.

Of course this means you need a higher budget for the monitor, really around £450 entry level.

4K 144Hz is what I would like as I think the games would look great. Never been a fan of the curved monitors tho so do you have any recommendations for the 4K 144Hz?

I think because the pricing is much more competitive on these new GPUs and there's a significant step-up in performance, these initial batches will fly off the shelves.
I really wouldn't be surprised, scrolling through twitter earlier and it seemed that every man woman and child is going to get one
