Hi!
Could somebody help me?
Windows can't see my 2TB HDD.
Cables checked, Bios can see, but it is missing from the disc management. Should be Drive"D".
The build is a full PC specialist build, one year old.
(The language is Hungarian on attached Windows photo, i hope it won't cause problem)

Yes it was. My wife is a freelancer graphic designer, she had a lots of artworks, and a few installed programs on the drive.
It was working without any problem up to yesterday.

Are you sure everything is plugged in correctly?
Maybe the cables are damaged or the motherboard?
or a Faulty Drive? Is the HDD new?

The build wasn't change since bought.
It was moved only once weeks ago, and only a few meters on foot. :) i don't think it would damaged because of that.
When the PC is turned on, it has a the spinning sound, i can feel it when i touch it too. Acting as normal.
I thought the windows did something. Updated itself or i don't know. It was working alright in the morning, but when my partner turned it on in the afternoon then it was disappeared. Programs not working, data lost...
The problem that i can't update the driver as well because i can't see it in the device management too... see picture...

Is it possible I wonder, whether the Optane has failed somehow? I would take the Optane card out and see whether you can see the HDD in Windows then.

You could try a restore point before it stopped being detected. That's if you have one.

Otherwise I'd look into the above solution!

Yesterday at night i tried the restore point. I had one point on 31th dec., but i could't restore because it had an error which was shown after the process. It said something doesn't let the windows to restore.
I thought i will try it today, but i don't have that point anymore, and the next one is dated after the problem. I restored for that one just in case, and it could restore but it didn't help.
I have to go to work now. I will try the Optane after.

New SATA wire, different SATA ports were tried. Didn't work. The Device manager with shown hidden items was the following with optane:
Device manager - hidden items.PNG

without optane:

The PC is without opotane at the moment. The Disc manager shows the following.

I still can't see the HDD. :(

Send it back to PCS. Will most likely be faster than figuring it out yourself.
Probably yes. I had to make a try because i am living in Ireland. As i know they have an office only in the UK. I can send it back, but that should be the last case, i think that's the most risky.

The device the isn't shown without Optane IS the Optane module.

Clearly it's not an Optane issue then. I might be inclined to remove the HDD and stick it in a caddy. See whether you can see it as a USB attached external drive. If not then its the. drive that failed

The Windows can't cause such an issue? I mean, without optane, the optane device is still in the list, just hidden. So , i think, if it would be only disconnected anyhow, then it should be only hidden in the list ..
However, if the windows causing it somehow, it can clear the connection too..
The HDD was connected for bit more than a year to the PC, so i think it should be in the list just hidden too.. it isn't there so something may disabling the driver program, or something like that.. am i wrong?

Its hidden in the Device Manager list because it's a device that has been present in the past but isn't detected now.
