Hi,

I am just wondering if anyone has tweaked any of the settings in Windows 10 in relation to data collection or privacy.

I have looked at tenforums.com and a few other websites, which discuss and point to tips and tweaking apps to minimise the amount data collection by Microsoft, e.g. disable Telemetry.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated, please.

Thank you.

Just disable everything is the default, unless you use cortana there’s no need for any of the telemetry settings.

Hi,

I have disabled everything that I can under Privacy in Settings, but what else should I turn off or disable?

If so, what is the best method to do this?

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated, please.

Thank you.

That’s all. Those are the telemetry settings.

You may have been referencing early windows 10 builds where none of those options wer user selectable, you had to change settings via power shell commands. But now it’s all in the privacy settings page.

Just to be clearer, if you go to privacy settings, then you'll see down the left hand side 4 more options within that category:

Go through them all and disable everything pretty much, none of it is required for normal windows usage, especially if you don't use Cortana or Edge browser.

All the previously hidden telemetry settings are now selectable when you first install. All those questions about adverts, inking, speech, etc. set the telemetry setting values. Whenever I reinstall I always answer in the negative for all those. As SpyderTracks says, you can change them under Settings > Privacy at any time.
