will my average monitor cause my graphics card to under perform?

hey guys, i know it seems like a bit of a daft question but with my new PC coming it's basically left me skint and i can't currently afford to upgrade my monitor (a 5 year old dell average size) or keyboard/mouse this month.

so the question is, will it have an adverse affect on my GPU or cause it to not perform the way it would on a better monitor? i'm a bit confused on the subject and how it works.

i hear the screen resolutions also affects the GPU performance (GTX670) any one fancie enlightning me? will just be using 1 monitor anyway if it matters.

thats what i'm meaning, so having a cheapo monitor basically wont emphisise the graphics aswell as a better monitor would?

i honestly don't fancy shelling out for a really pricey monitor, what would you regard as sufficent size and would you recommend a possible make? :D

i've actually had a quick browse there in just argos (as i'll probably just be buying localy along with a mouse and keyboard) and its not as scary as i braced myself for, your talking £150 for a good monitor?

I dont know what your budget is or what size you prefer but personally I would consider the
IIYAMA E2273HDS 22" from PCS (£129)

ah looks pretty nice actually, why do you recommend it? i honestly have no idea about monitors so any help as to what i'm looking for in terms of the spec or anything would be appreciated :D

Well to me 22" is an ideal size for a monitor but other people might prefer larger or even smaller,also quite a few members have given the IIYAMA E2273HDS 22" good reviews,that's the main reasons I suggested it plus it's very reasonably priced.

sounds like the best option on site anyway. so that should enhance my graphics much better? i've honestly had this dell 19'' monitor for a good 8 years haha. :D

Whether there will be an improvement depends on the specifications of the monitor you already have,resolution,response time,connections etc.
What model is it?

Remember that it won't hurt your GPU if you use a much older, smaller resolution monitor, so if you need to save up a bit more before you get your new monitor then it won't be a problem.
In this case it just means you won't be using your GPU to anywhere near its potential.

If you can afford a new monitor I'd definitely get one though, the difference between a new 22-24" monitor and an old 19" will be huge.
