I have recently just bought a brand new pc from PC specialist. One issue i have noted is that i get problematic flickering while playing games -for example i play total warhammer 3 and other titles and the flickering (which i would describe as white backgroundish) is severe especially during the turn sequence. I note that running the game in windowed mode seems to fix this??

I have tried the following;

Changing refresh rate (my monitor goes up to 165hz)
VGA/ HDMI cables
Using AMD adrenaline - drivers are up to date.

My previous computer (intel/ 1060) didnt have this issue so stumped!

On a side note i had a issue on first setup which resulted in me having to do a full clean install of the os - perhaps i have missed something?

Any advice or guidance would be appreciated

What method did you use to clean install?

Where did you source drivers?

Can you post a screenshot of your optional updates page?

What AV are you using? Are you using any VPN at all?

Does it only happen during gaming?

Also, you could check for a few things:
  • Use a Display Port cable to connect your GPU to your monitor (if your monitor supports it): https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cable-Matters-Certified-Braided-DisplayPort-Black/dp/B0856Q7P5F
  • Make sure your monitor is set up correctly (165HZ) and in sync with your Windows display settings (also 165HZ)
  • Does your monitor have Freesync enabled? If so, try turning it on and off to see if it makes any difference
  • Try turning HDR off (if you have it enabled)
