Hi,

When I configure Mozilla Thunderbird to access my Yahoo email account(s) – would it be best to use Generate App Password in Yahoo's Account Security just with Thunderbird, instead of using my actual password(s)?

Because my Yahoo account(s) will no longer be used – would it be a good idea to create archive Yahoo Inbox and Yahoo Sent Email folders under “Local folders in Thunderbird?

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated, please.

Thank you.

I would seriously delete the account. They’re so utterly insecure, just export all your emails to another service and delete it.

It depends how secure you think your current passwords are. I'm not familiar with Yahoo's 'Generate App Password' but it sounds like a good idea (having a different password for Thunderbird to use).

The folder structure depends on whether you want a clear indication of which emails have come in via Yahoo. I wouldn't use Yahoo's SMTP server to send emails at all, set up Thunderbird to send all email via your 'new' email provider's SMTP account.

You do want to set a time limit for continuing to use Yahoo. I would advise all your contacts that your email address has changed and after a few months delete the Yahoo account completely.
