Hey everyone,
I've been lurking in this thread for a few days now and saw the small debate about the 3070 vs 3080 with 1440p gaming and thought I would ask a few questions to educate myself. For context, I have an order for a PC with a 3080 but I am only 23 working days in, and my current monitor is 27 inch 1440p 165hz.
From what I've read on this thread, changing the order from a 3080 to a 3070 would significantly reduce my wait time, as well as save a few £. I am no tech wiz and don't know much about the difference between a 3070 and a 3080, so I would like to ask you guys which are way more experienced and have the knowledge, if you would recommend a 3070 or a 3080, (considering the monitor I use, and any other performance factors) and if there will be any noticeable difference between both of the cards whilst gaming.

For 1440p you wouldn't benefit from a 3080, 3070 is far better.

Far better, solely from the perspective of value for money, correct?
So it would be accurate for me to say that the 3080 would still perform better, however the difference would be so minimal it's not worth the extra price? Or would they literally perform the same, or even the 3070 better?

Sorry if these are dumb questions :ROFLMAO:

3080 wouldn’t perform any better because the monitor is the bottleneck. 3080 is a 4k 144hz card, not 1440p

3070 is a monster for 1440p, as stated before... the 3080 won’t really offer you much more at 1440p, plus you’ll get a 3070 build within the next two weeks i’d imagine.
