What do you think of these parts? - First Custom PC

That's perfect then! I don't believe I need any other features? So I believe I should be set. I don't plan to upgrade, so like you say I don't need to worry about a futureproof motherboard as everything will have changed by my next purchase.

Hey again Oussebon,

PCS have now got the 680x RGB in stock, so will be making the order tonight!!
Regarding the seperate purchase of graphics card, as you recommended, I will be purchasing the Gigabyte 2070 Super. However, when looking on Newegg (GB) I am presented with the choice of the Gaming OC 3x and Windforce OC 3x. Which one do I go with?

I wouldn't buy on newegg as it involves shipping to/from USA and UK retailers almost always have more competitive pricing.

I just added that card to the basket and was presented with a £36 shipping bill ?!? Whereas the first result on Google Shopping has the card for almost the same price and free shipping from within the UK.

As a rule of thumb, if there is a cheap graphics card, and a very expensive version of the same card, the cheaper one usually makes most sense.

Because if you buy a top end RTX 2070 Super you're almost paying as much as you can get an RTX 2080 Super for anyway, so what's the point. Same applies to RTX 2060 / 2060 Super etc

If X is only a few quid more than Y and has faster clocks, or a better cooling system, or some other nice feature, sure, why not, but if you're paying big bucks for the difference, it's often not worth it.

The gaming OC is faster than the Windforce (I think Windforce is the name of their basic models?) and at a quick glance on UK stores the Gaming OC is one of the least expensive 2070 Supers going. So that kind of settles that. :)

Noted - do you know any reputable UK retailers? Ebuyer, Scan seem to be showing up plenty.

Thank you for ironing that out - there seems to be a lot of 'tax' for useless features. It makes for a confusing purchasing experience.

I would avoid Scan personally, their after sales support isn't that great if you get a manufacturing defect.

Personally, I've had a lot of success with Overclockers and Amazon, both have superb return policies.

Have used both, they took my money and delivered the product intact so you can't really ask more. Both have solid Trustpilot scores so I assume it's not just me.

Edit: though I see not everyone has had that experience!

There were over 130 models of GTX 1080. I'll just leave that thought there :)
