Ha I will definitely do that. The guy on the telephone at PS did not instill any confidence in me im afraid, a-lot of er er er in conversation and didn’t seem confident.

I want to buy these speakers for my pc, just to make sure they are compatible and will connect etc? Can someone kindly confirm please,

or advice something better for same price

thanks

It's one of those things I think. As moderators we don't really know anything about the business side of things, we're purely volunteers to help with the forum etc. However, in my experience of the world you tend not to get subject experts working in sales or call centres. That is absolutely no disrespect to anyone working in such roles, it's just that if they were experts in the subject matter, they would likely be working more closely to the subject.

You should hear some of the calls I have with our IT support team in work. It's so frustrating as they have a manual that they need to follow when I typically understand more of the systems than 99% of their entire staff. That's not me being egotistical, it's just a fact :D

In all walks of life I tend to find enthusiasts know far more about the subject they are enthusiastic about than, typically, those hired to facilitate offerings. A good example of this, that I always cite, is when it comes to purchasing a car. The sales team are typically very knowledgeable about the brochure and the positives to try and promote the items they are looking to sell.... but they don't need to understand the nuts and bolts or the operation of the systems.

There will be always be guides and training, but this gives very little insight into actual daily use.

True, I agree, he will still a nice lad but I wasn’t getting much out of him.

This site/yourself had definitely cut my time on deciding on what to buy and here I am now 3500 poorer! Ha!

I’d appreciate if someone could look at the speaker system above and advise if it will be compatible

Thanks

I had a look at the speakers. Far higher than your initial £150 limit though :p

I'm in 2 minds at the moment. They will definitely be compatible but now that you've eeked up to that sort of price range I can't help but think you could up your game ;)

Thanks, my total budget was 2k yesterday lol.

So what do you have in mind? thinking? I would spend upto 300 on sound system .! Do you have another system in mind? Ideally would prefer 5.1 but the cables put me off but its not a massive issue. Just like a good quality sound system, to listen music too on pc etc

The difficulty is the subwoofer. I don't think you can do better than the ones you have selected for that price as an all-in-one kit.

But... for desktop speakers, I always fancied these:

unfortunately you would need a separate subwoofer which would add to that cost.

The kit you have selected is fantastic though. The only way to really get the surround without the cables would be to opt for a wireless kit. These can be OK, but good ones tend to cost a lot.

This is threading the needle. The sensible approach.

PC - 4k Editing machine with 1440p gaming potential.
Monitor 1 - 4k 60Hz IPS display primarily for editing.
Monitor 2 - 1440p 144hz display primarily for gaming.

Monitor 1 - £298

Monitor 2 - £269

Total cost £3097.

If you wanted to spend a little extra, you could bump the RAM back up to 64GB and bump the PSU up to the 1000w offering, to cover all bases and still be inside £3500.

I definitely think that this is the overall best compromise & use of the system. It ticks every box at a good level, but focuses more on the editing side of things. The second monitor is worth its weight in gold, even if not used for gaming, so it has it's own merits.

Now moving onto the monitors which I will order in a few days. (Links above)

The reviews for the Samsung monitor are very good, however the ASUS gaming monitor reviews seem to be hit and miss. So any other suggestions ? Can in increase my budget to another £100 if need be, the one quoted is £269. Or shall I leave it as that?

thanks

Staying with ASUS, I would recommend a very similar monitor in their lineup, the VG27AQ. This gives you an IPS panel which comes with better colour accuracy and image quality, and in my opinion is worth the extra £30. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07VTPKCLS?tag=pcp0f-21&linkCode=ogi&th=1
One of the top end picks for 1440p gaming would be the MSI MAG274QRF-QD but that is a little pricier at around the £360 mark.

I actually originally decided to buy this very one 5.1 system but its seemed to bulky /too many speakers so I will stick to my 2.1 speaker choice above which you seem to think it is fine too. Thanks

Yes

1440p - Gaming & secondary screen use
4k - Editing

Can game on either to be fair, games will just run far better on the 1440p panel.

That must be a record, generally 10%-15% more is a norm even as high as 20% but damn mate you really swung for the fences

I will say it's a cracking build mate, well worth the money

Thanks, I hope I make good use of it. If it wasn’t for this forum I would have bought an unbalanced system - and my budgets are always estimates! Lol
