Very disappointed

Hi, Since 2 days my '' super pc '' has arrived, which I find very strange, I have the latest generation I9 with a very good SSD, but it seems like I have a WINDOWS 98, is often stuck, sometimes when I it turns on i get black screen, sometimes i press turn off but it doesn't respond. Have been in contact with PCSpecialist, had to do a few tests, had no error message, my i5 laptop without ssd is faster, if it continues like this i will send it back, am very disappointed, paid so much and waited almost 5 weeks, then you get this in .
only thing nice about it is the look, I think they secretly sold windows 98.
anyone have any idea if i can fix this problem or why it is?

Unless that was changed since the post I'm referencing.

That being the case, my advice to the OP would be to download a new copy of Windows to a USB stick, boot that, delete all existing system partitions (there are four on a UEFI system and two on an MBR system) and install Windows. Allow Windows update to install all drivers and see how the system behaves in that pristine state. If you still have problems it's likely hardware and you should tell PCS you've done a clean install and the problem remains.

If it does perform well in that pristine state then proceed with caution when installing additional software to be sure you don't reinstall the problem.

This crops up occasionally here - when you buy a system from PCS without an operating system, it gets a completely unoptimised OS installed purely for testing.

That means it's possibly got old, wrong or even missing drivers. It will, in all likelihood have "ghost" hardware - devices that aren't present but show up in device manager if you choose to show hidden / disconnected (I forget the exact wording off-hand) devices. It also most likely won't have updates from MS etc

In essence it's just enough to get it going for testing.

When you reinstall, and choose to remove the partitions as above, you can guarantee that you get a fresh copy of windows optimised for that hardware.

Initially try to see if you can just use Microsoft drivers (other than NVidia) unless you have no alternative. I always like to make sure I have a copy of the latest manufacturers WiFi card driver installer on my USB stick as well (and less so these days, possibly chipset drivers) - it's quite frustrating when you need to connect to get - e.g. new drivers - but can't unless you plug a cable in.

Oh gosh yes, if the OP simply activated the test version then all bets are off! Never a good idea.
