Upgrading my pcspecialist pc

I got this pc 4 years ago. I have swapped the graphics card for a 6gb verson of the nvidea gtx 1060. Up the ram to 16gb (4x4gb). And added a ssd drive.

I am now wanting to upgrade the pc to play the new generation games and future proof for a while. Im planning to upgrade the processor to a newer and better one (i guess i will need a new motherboard), better graphics card and more ram. My question is cost effective to upgrade this pc or start fresh.

Hi there! The link you gave us just links to the PCS page. I’d post it in text form from your orders page then the “post to forum” button at the bottom of the order.

That said, if you’re looking to replace your motherboard, CPU, RAM and graphics card, you’re basically replacing every major part so a fresh build is probably the more sensible option. If that’s the case, we’d be happy to give you help with a build. Or alternatively if you show us your current build we might be able to suggest on changes without needing to replace so many parts.

I wouldn't bother upgrading the CPU, no need yet.

I would up the PSU to an 850w RMX and then get whatever 3000 series GPU fits your budget.

Honestly, I recon with a GPU swap you should be good to go for a while. The i7 may be a little old but it’s still perfectly good. Then 16GB of ram is still the standard for most games so that doesn’t need changing either. I’d upgrade your PSU to an RMx 850 to make sure you can comfortably run your GPU

Then for your GPU, it’s very monitor dependent. What monitor do you currently have? Or if you’re looking to upgrade that, what are you looking to upgrade to? (make and model or resolution and refresh rate)

What's your budget then for upgrades?

1080p monitors are a really poor experience by today's standards.

If it were me, I'd sell your current monitors and then invest in a good 1440 Ultrawide or Superwide with 3070 or 3080.

All depends on budget though.

If you’re happy with 1080p, a 3060 range would be a great upgrade (6700XT might still be cheaper and is a lot better).

Not for triple monitor though, wouldn't be anywhere near enough. You'd need a 3070 as a minimum really.
