Below is the spec of my laptop I bought from PCS in May of 2013!!!
And I am still using it and its still going strong.
My spreadsheets and photoshop files load just as quickly (ok, getting a little slower).
The battery is slowly dying; last about 45 min on a good day but it has been 7 years.
Otherwise, still a solid laptop:
Chassis & Display Optimus Series: 17.3" Matte Full HD LED Widescreen (1920x1080)
Processor (CPU) Intel® CoreTMi7 Quad Core Mobile Processor i7-3630QM (2.40GHz) 6MB
Memory (RAM) 16GB SAMSUNG 1600MHz SODIMM DDR3 MEMORY (2 x 8GB)
Graphics Card NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 660M - 2.0GB DDR5 Video RAM - DirectX® 11
1st Storage Drive 120GB KINGSTON V300 SSD, SATA 6 Gb (450MB/R, 450MB/W)
2nd Storage Drive 750GB WD SCORPIO BLACK WD7500BPKT, SATA 3 Gb/s, 16MB CACHE (7200 rpm)
I now want to replace the above specs from 2013 to 2020 specs:
Screen can be 14" - 15"
Light as possible
Good battery life
16gb ram (as above) but I might get away with 8gb.
i7 (10th gen). i5 should be ok too.
Graphics card: I don't think I really need a dedicated one. My photoshop files are really not that huge and I do not play games (so much).
Storage: Total 1tb hd, fast, and can be over two (256 for win 7 and 1tb for files) drives or one (256 for win 7 and rest partitioned for files)
I would like to spend £750 -£850, but can go upto £1000 (all inc vat) for the "perfect" spec.
