Upgrade to 4k laptop monitor

Hi all I'm about to order the Octane high end system 17" for video/editing/photography/ not into games
my budget is at its limits at £1850.

I will want to upgrade the screen to a 4k/ 17" ( when I save a bit more in a few months )
will this be possible through PC.Specialists.
or can I purchase one 17" 4k from PCS I'm more than capable of fitting myself
not interested in warranty rules.

I would like to know when PCS will have the 4k/17"screens in stock though and there price to customers.

I have to decide between this

[Link removed - specs were: 17.3" Gigabyte P37X v5-CF1, 4K IPS, 2.6GHz i7 6700HQ, 16GB DDR4, 256GB M.2 PCIe SSD+1TB HDD, 8GB GTX 980M, BD-R, Win10]

and PCS SYSTEM.

the Scan system would need the HD, and ram, upgraded,

Unfortunately it is not an official channel of support. Most users here are non-PCS employees

Yes I understand Keynes

I see the link was quick to be removed ( that tells me its monitored by PCS )
anyway I'm not bothered, about link.

I was just looking for information or advice from others,
as its a lot of monies to spend on a laptop, and I want to get the right one for me. ( I may be 65yrs old/but I don't know everything? )

on the other system I was looking at but at least they left the speck up
It is a PCS Forum So I would have thought it was moderated by a PCS moderator:

Actually that just means a moderator spotted it and removed it - me in this case :) - because competitor links are not allowed.
But I am just a moderator and not a PCS employee I'm afraid - most of the moderators are not PCS employees - we're just volunteers.

But welcome to the forums, and as Keynes said you'd have to actually contact PCS to confirm it.

It takes up to 3 working days for an email reply, so you won't hear until up to end of Tuesday.

Best way is to call them for a quick response.

I would think other competent Laptop users would like the answer to this Question
[ will PCS supply a 4k monitor for laptop bought from them, yes or no simple Question. That is when they get them in stock}

Hi tom g,

Thank you for getting in contact with us, first of all I would like to apologise for the delay in getting back to you regarding this.

I can confirm that you are able to upgrade your screen on your system to a 4k screen through us as soon as they are back in stock and available, unfortunately we do not send screens out for customers to fit themselves due to their fragile nature so if you wanted to do this upgrade we would need the system sending through to ourselves, this can be arranged through your upgrades section of your account or by giving us a call on 03330 117000.

If you wish to purchase a 4k screen from elsewhere and fit this yourself you are more than welcome to do this, as long as you do not damage the computer in anyway your warranty for all other parts would still be intact so long as the fault you are experiencing is not caused by the 3rd party screen or how this was fitted.

We currently are between suppliers for our high resolution screens and although we will be stocking these again as soon as we possibly can we currently do not have an ETA or price for these screens. I would advise waiting until you are ready to do the upgrade and then giving us a call so that we can go through this fully with you.

Once again I apologise for the time is has taken to get you an answer on this.

Many Thanks

PC Specialist.
