Came home today, went to wake the laptop which had gone into deep sleep, it wouldn't wake, so i long pressed the power button to shut it down, and then tried rebooting with no joy, so created a bootable usb on a micro SD card (can't find the thumb drive i normally use) using media creator, had no joy booting from that, so then created it on an m.2 that I've got in a caddy, and it wont boot that either (see video below)

This is intriguing. Did you have any performance issues before it wouldn't boot?

Can you bott into bios?

Unplug the charger and remove the battery (if you can). Then hold the ON button down for 60 seconds.

Nothing exciting will happen, you're just discharging all capacitors.

Then leave the battery out and plug in the charger. See whether it will boot install media on a USB stick then.

Cheers @ubuysa , I'll give that a go in the morning

Reason I was querying is because I happen to have extremely similar behaviour on one of my PC's today, I wondered if there had been some buggy update pushed out by microsoft on hacked windows 11 installs.

But mine turns out to be a faulty drive, my first ever

Must admit I had wondered if it was something like a dodgy update, but the Berserker is fine

It had shut down properly before I came to work, but it took ages to do so

Do you get a normal POST beep?

It might be worth removing the two SATA drives, to ensure they're not contributing.

If it still won't boot from external media, then I would try removing one RAM stick at a time.

I'd be tempted to boot a Linux USB stick, just to be certain that there is no Windows involvement.

Just creating a recovery tool see if I can bit from that, while I had the back off to remove the battery I took the m.2 out, put it in a caddy and ran a check on it, found no problems, but if I get nowhere with that I'll remove both the drives and go from there, where would I get a copy of Linux from thatI could try that with and how would I do it

Just an update, it booted into mint, so i then shut it down, removed both its drives, booted to the recovery media, shut it down, replaced the boot drive, and upon initially trying to boot got the message in the photo below, then it tried an automatic repair, then i went through into advanced trouble shooter and got it to run a start up repair, when that finished I got the same message again and on clicking ok it then booted to windows :) I then shut down and got a windows message about operations being performed and that it would shut down automatically once they were finished, so now I've got the drive out again and just copying a few files to safe place, then I'm going to put both drives back in and see what happens then.

I think if all goes ok then, I'll do a clean install

Ok further update on this, I'm typing this on the laptop, however I had to remove the Samsung 870 evo to get to boot, I've done a clean install of windows, which I'm slowly getting back to how I want it, I shall put the 870 evo into a drive docking station to investigate it further, all data on it is backed up to either onedrive or dropbox, but would be good to try and get it sorted, otherwise I'll be looking at contacting samsung for a replacement as they have a 5 year warranty on them
