Transfer data from laptop 2.5 SSD

Hi,

I've got a PC Specialist laptop on order and it should be ready within the next 2 weeks. I've also got another laptop which I need to take the 2.5 ssd hdd out and transfer the data across to my new laptop (old laptop doesn't turn on but I need the data).

I've seen some kits on amazon which house internal 2.5 hdd's and then connect via USB so that you can access the hdd externally but I don't know which one to get.

Can anyone make some recommendations of something which will do the job fine? Some range from £6 all the way to £20 upwards and because its a one off, I want to make sure whatever I order does the job but don't want to pay unnecessarily more.

Thanks in advance!

If your SSD is a SATA connected drive (which means it fits into a normal HDD slot) then any external caddy will do. For an SSD you can probably get by with powering it from the USB port if you get a USB3.1 capable caddy. The more expensive ones have separate mains power supplies which you often need for an HDD.

Thank you. Would something like this be ok? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Optimized-...ocphy=9046181&hvtargid=pla-472610227371&psc=1 No external power supply as you mentioned but should do the job for what I need?

That looks like a handy piece of kit to have on hand, especially at that price, so just ordered one
What I liked about it is the sliding back cover, so you can easily switch between drives. And the build quality looks good enough, especially at that price. Too bad I don't get commissions :ROFLMAO:
