Before installing a driver that is not designed for this PC I would take it back to Currys/PCWorld and get them to make the WiFi work. Installing drivers designed for the PC is one thing, installing drivers for other platforms might be construed as negligence...?
@elainef, I think you've done all you can be reasonably asked to do, it's time IMO to take it back to Currys and insist they make the WiFi work or ask for your money back.
Don't let Currys try to tell you it's a PCS problem - it's not. You bought it from Currys and they alone are responsible for selling you a working system.
