Thunderbolt™ 4

In relation to a PRIME Z890-P WIFI & MSI GEFORCE RTX 4060 Ventus 2X...

What peripherals would gain most benefit from connection to this USB-C type connector?

tnx.

It’s not just a connector, certain components require the extra bandwidth that the port supports.

You either have thunderbolt devices for your requirements or you don’t. It's not the case that any device out there also has a thunderbolt version, that's not how it works.

I’ve been looking for a Thunderbolt christmas tree, but seems Corsair don’t make 120w 80gbps iCue ARGB trees yet (well not under 6 feet tall anyway, and that would look silly on top of my PC).

…although I do have a couple of these to house my ‘retired’ smaller SSDs…
Have you seen the brand new Thunderbolt 5 one OWC have released? Last time I looked it was only in the US, but does look insanely good, it was the first and only Thunderbolt 5 one in existence when I last looked

Ah, they've got stocks now in the UK

This is a 'Desktop' thread. As far as I know, only laptops have thunderbolt. Are you sure you have it?

Desktops have thunderbolt, have done since Thunderbolt 3

USB 4 now incorporates Thunderbolt 3, so it's a universal port, very cool. The new 800 series AMD boards have to have at least 2 USB 4 ports on them, but they'll often have a dedicated Thunderbolt 4 port too on the decent models.

Macs are now on Thunderbolt 5, but that hasn't hit PC yet, it's likely they'll skip to Thunderbolt 6.

Ah, right, tnx.
