Thoughts on this spec for a "work" PC (with a bit of gaming when nobody is looking)

I'd like this to be quiet if I'm not playing games

Configuration link

I have a Samsung C27FG70 at the moment, but am likely to pick up a CHG90 early next year

PC budget is ~£2,000

Any thoughts?

I would probably put the extra "few quid" to a 1440p Super Ultrawide. It's not that much more for the 120hz offering and I think it will offer a far better experience all round.

The 3070 would probably be fine for either. If the budget is there for the 3080 then it's a fair shout for the 1440p offering.

I would strongly agree, the difference between 1080 and 1440 is night and day even in a superwide, I would never recommend 1080 for any build these days unless a strict budget was preventing the power for anything higher.

This is the 1440 superwide version around the same cost:

This would pair well with the 3080

Thanks all - I really appreciate the input and suggestions - I hadbn't even considered that the monitor I was lookingat was 1080 as opposed to 1440, and going for the 3080 makes far more sense with that in mind.

So just how loud do the 3080s get then? Is it worth sticking on an AIO cooler, or are the stock card fans good enough?

Thanks again!

They’re surprisingly quiet from what I’ve heard.

I agree.

Of all the ones I've heard in reviews, it's the Founder's Edition which seems to be the 'loudest'...but even then it's not what you'd call 'loud'.
I don’t really understand how they’ve managed it considering how much power the cards actually use... must be new fan technology?
