Thoughts on this build please

Hi, I have a question about the cases that come with rear fans.

So, say if I select a case that has a rear fan that comes with it, if I scroll down and pick the maximum amount of additional fans I can add into the case, will that replace the rear fan that comes with the case or not. For example if the maximum fans for a case is 3 and I select the 3 additional fans will that add on from the rear fans that comes with the case (so there would be 4 fans in the case) or would it just replace the rear fan, if this is right can I just select 2 additional fans and the rear fan that comes with the case would make the maximum 3 fans?

Hope you understand what I’m saying, thanks for your help.

Can I get thoughts on this build? I am on a budget of around 700 pounds, thanks.

Do you need that many cooling fans? 😁 Seriously though, what are you aiming to use this pc for, what sort of games? What monitor are you going to use? Is there any wriggle room in the budget?

I would definitely hold off for some advice as that is not a well configured build unfortunately.

Here's some good info to help us along with your build :)

I am just using the pc for gaming. My monitor is a MSI 1080p, 144hz, AMD freesync, 1MS response time, curved.

What sort of games will you be playing? Most components on this setup are quite a few generations old, are you able to expand the budget? MY biggest issue is that you wont be able to upgrade your computer in the future so while it may be under £800 you'd just be spending money which will be an investment lost instantly.

Yes but I thought I could use PC specialist feature where they let you send back your PC for an upgrade. Games like minecraft, cod, forza, Fifa, and maybe Fortnite

But you have to pay for those upgrades and this system is not designed to support upgrades. So you'd just be paying significantly more than you need to for lesser performance

The point of a decent PC is that the platform is designed so that it doesn't need upgrading during the lifetime of the PC. If anything does, then it's designed poorly. Also the platform needs to be able to support upgrades, this one isn't able to for various reasons.

Wouldn’t PC specialists change the motherboard for me if I select a better one if I upgrade. I would select one that supports better cpus. I know it’s not ideal but with my budget, I might have to go with what I have got and send it back for upgrades when I can.

You are looking to pay for almost a whole new system again which could be double the costs, its not worth it. Its far more cheaper to shell out a bit more now for a good build which you can upgrade component by component. If you by a z6/590 motherboard you'd only need to upgrade your cpu as next gen will also work for this chipset. Do you see what i mean?

Yes but the motherboard I have selected supports up to i7 10700kf and that for me Is good because I don’t have the biggest budget. But I guess I could change to a B560M DS3H so I could get that 11th gen.

PCS don't do motherboard upgrades as it's an entire system rebuild, you're also limited to that chipsets availability which by the time you come to upgrading will not be stocked.

I have to admit and im not even able to alter the ideal build for you... For £700 i simply could not put one together, the base starting point offered with just a z590 starts you off between £400-£500 is that definitely you're fixed budget? Help me help you and ill try to make it as tightly budgeted as i can.

Try and keep it under 900 pound how about that? Or put one together that’s as close to my budget as possible but is an acceptable gaming pc.

Sometimes, it's better just to accept that it's not possible at the budget, and it's worth saving more.

The sacrifice you make by going below certain core components is zero upgradeablity, so where it may cost less, it will only be useable for a few years instead of 7 - 10 years, so actually the cost is massively increased. Plus all this while having a very poor experience.

Sometimes it's more helpful to admit that it's just not possible. Prices are the highest they've ever been at the moment, but even before the price surge, £700 would not have been recommended for an entry level gaming build.

I would suggest saving up more until you have at least £1200 with current pricing.

This would be the lowest you'd want to go, this is with integrated graphics, so you'd have to reduce settings to low and performance wouldn't be great, but the idea is that at a time when you can get one, you get a dedicated GPU and just slot it in, then you get proper gaming performance. But the point of this is that the platform is strong and upgradeable so will last a full lifetime of 7-10 years with GPU upgrades during that time.
