Thoughts on Defiance 16"

Hello everyone!

I recently ordered a PCSpecialist Defiance 16" last Monday
I mainly plan to use the laptop for virtualization, SQL, Python, and similar
tasks, rather than gaming. I ordered it last Monday, but when I tried to upgrade to fast track 1-day dispatch a few days later, it wouldn't let me, stating that the V360SNCQ it not available, as it's pre-sold.

Now, it's been in the "testing" stage for three working days and I've noticed that the Defiance series is no longer available for purchase at all on the website. It feels like I might have bought the last unit in stock, though I'm not sure whether that's a good or bad thing.

Question:
Since I'm not gaming but running VMs, databases, Python scripts, etc should I expect high temperatures?

Would appreciate any insights from those familiar with the Defiance series or similar PCSpecialist laptops. Thanks in advance!

Intel runs extremely hot, so yes, temps will be high.

This is one of the reasons it’s generally better to go with AMD

Thanks for the quick reply. Kinda kicking myself for not posting here before ordering. Do you know if cooling pads or anything else might help with the temps?

The only thing you can do is undervolt.

Cooling pads don’t work as there are no vents on the undersides of laptops, cooling pads haven’t been relevant for quite a long time as laptop design has changed enormously.

As far as I'm aware you can still cancel and go the AMD route with the Recoil 16. I stand to be corrected though and I apologise for coming into your thread but if it's something you don't want and haven't received it yet I'd look at your options.

This is certainly true, even though it's in Testing, you can still cancel, they may incur a small admin fee to cover the time taken to build it, but I very much doubt it would be much.

It's a big purchase, if you're at all unsure, definitely cancel and revisit.
