I'm never sure about using warm water, used it once and worked brilliantly but was getting funny looks from neighbours who were scraping theirs.. And door's don't really seem to be a problem either, little stiff and first but never frozen solid! Windows on the other hand...

I see lots of cars and vans with cardboard on the window, sometimes front and back, clamped with the windscreen wipers...that'd work...anyone else seen this one?

Well, I don't tend to bother with warm water or anything like that, cos by the time I've finished scraping ice of all the side windows and the windscreen, the inside of the windscreen still isn't de-misted/de-frozen anyway :)

Yes, I seem to have a bit of a condensation problem in my car (though its better than it used to be) so when it gets really cold the inside of the windscreen freezes ....

Have you checked if there are any leaks in your car? I was having similar problems. I was leaving work at 5:30pm and my car would be the only one steam up completely on the inside. Whether it had been cold or not. It's only when we were driving to my sister's at Christmas that my girlfriend took her shoes off and realised the floor was soaked. Only on the passenger side though in the footwell. It still hasn't dried now like 2 weeks later :\

Apparently though bad condensation on the inside reflects on there being water inside in the car.

Had a leak fixed about a year ago, that's why the condensation problem isn't nearly as bad as it was - at that point the carpet under the mat under my feet was really quite wet but I hadn't noticed cos well thats where I put my wet feet when I get in - I only found the leak cos it started to cause problems with the electronics in my car, the engine management light kept coming on, but after the car had warmed up it generally went off - though I did end up having to call the AA and going to the garage due to a serious over-revving issue (4k rpm and getting louder whilst in neutral not good) at which point they found the water issue.

I suppose I should really double check to make sure there are no other obvious leaks, but apparently the older Corsa's are more likely to have condensation issues, but yeah, its a lot better than it was a year ago :)

Try Polish Winter with -30/35C every Year :p

Winter tires first second thing to avoid scratching and stuff like that try to run your engine few minutes before driving and turn on heat :) When you scratching your windows you will see the effect at spring time :p

You should check the under bonnet drains by the windscreen.

Many cars will have sections which will fill with water if the drains are blocked, then when you accelerate and brake the water will slosh into the air intake and run into the passenger footwells or over ecu's etc.

Look under your bonnet and find those drains.

Done that, fed a pole through as well to make sure it wasn't full of leaves or anything and they were clear as day (knew about this because similar thing had happened to by dad's audi). Also blasted it with a hosepipe for a good 10-15mins and checked for any signs of water feeding in from anywhere. I think the next job is going to be pulling some of the carpet up as some of the seals around the bottom of the door look a bit 'wavey' as if they've been wet. We have had huge amounts of flooding around here lately and the country lanes I travel down to work get terrible due to water coming off the fields so I'm wondering if it's just been something to do with that. Strange that it's literally just a perfect square in the passenger footwell but nowhere else though.

I think the worst is when your screenwash freezes in the pipes and your windscreen is dirty.... so you have to pull over onto the services to clean it...

Or the BMW/AUDI drivers driving like Lewis Hamilton with their fancy LED headlights blinding you....
