Oh my god, lotus esprit!!!!! another blinding game :)

My fave game of all time has to be quake 1 multiplayer, i used to play on BT wireplay on a 56k modem, cost me a fortune, but i was bloody good at it!!! won prizes and everythink!!!

For me UFO has a special place in my heart.

It was the first PC game I ever bought after aquiring my first PC some 15 years ago. At the time I played it so much that I recall moments where I would honestly wonder how people in real life were able to move all the way across a room without running out of Time Units. :p

Here's another excellent game I played to death;
Tachyon: The Fringe
Superb graphics for the time & actually still quite reasonable, space flight combat sims always seemed to manage to look spectacular ahead of other games, it seems to be a lost genre in recent times. Great story, I loved the mercenary aspect to earn money to upgrade your ship. I loved equipping the biggest ship with a load of heavy lasers, they had a slow fire rate but god help anything when I hit my target!

The game drew you in deep, it made you feel emotion for your character (voiced excellently by Bruce Campbell) & you are able to make some of your own decisions along the way. The single player campaign splits down 2 paths needing a replay of the game to see the other side (and it's not just a clone with different names & locales).

Lastly the game included something all space flight combat sims should have done since ever, sliding... You can start your ship travelling in a direction, hold your slide button and then orient your ship to face any direction while still travelling along your original vector. It's good for strafing and for attacking pursuants as well as hitting max afterburner speed then drifting at max velocity, oh, and for sharp changes in direction.

I also forgot...
Mario Kart (SNES) and Mario Kart 64 will always hold a special place for me. I never owned a SNES but my best mate did & we played it lots, sensible soccer too... scoring from the touchline @ half-way every time!
The N64 was my first & only console, I'm otherwise a pure PC gamer! Ther weren't many great N64 games, here's a few that I enjoyed though;

Goldeneye (of course)
Mario Kart 64
Super Mario 64
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron

I remember playing this at a very, very young age indeed, I believe on the Sega Master System. It was one of the first games I owned and I loved it. Wish I could get my hands on a copy now and give it another whirl!

I never realised how many open fields there were at Monaco :p

Also, there was another game that looked exactly like this, but it was with motorbikes, I can't for the life of me remember what it was called, anyone know what I mean?

I remember another one that is probably the one you are talking about if this is not the one, it was a 3rd person one, but like you, I can't remember what it was called.
