Swopsies - Ensuring windows is safe when i swop tiny SSD for a bigger SSD

Morning everybody,

A friendly bit of advice would be welcome right now. I have a tiny SSD in my desktop pc and i want to upgrade it to a larger one.

Windows is stored on my SSD.

I have a hardrive as well, nothing is stored on this other then videos/photos - no programmes.

Question simply is ( and i have tried looking this up ) , How can swop over the SSD drive. There appears no space/leads for a 2nd SSD and im happy to just throw it out. Just want to make sure when i insert new ssd drive my windows is installed.

( I dont mind starting totally afresh..but windows came with the desktop years back loaded onto the tiny ssd drive. )

Thoughts welcome.

..Replying to my own thread...thoughts also welcome on a decent 1tb ssd drive..for a desktop..was just going to plum for a samsung, "£100' or Crucial.....It would be used as my main drive where all programmes are stored.

Notwithstanding the question posed by @SpyderTracks above, when replacing any system drive a clean install of Windows is always the wisest option. You can download the latest version with the Media Creation Tool (search for 'download Windows 10').

- How can i find out what SSD drive i need to buy. ( I currently have a smaller SSD, 178gb, this is my c:drive.
- I want to buy a new SSD, 1tb, and reinstall a new version of windows.
