Nvidia drivers can be strange. I use Linux, mainly Manjaro and Ubuntu and now the X.org Noveau drivers work better than the proprietary but before it could be quite hit and miss with Nvidia drivers with not always the latest working.
The big problem was a log in loop, keep returning to log in screen after log in attempts. Solution was to purge the Nvidia drivers via a ptty terminal then instal a different driver.
