Happy Boxing Day, I bought a PC (spec below) but we are having issue with my sons steel series headphones keep disconnecting from the PC. He has to restart the PC to reconnect them. He has used them with his Xbox for a year or so with no problems. We have carried out an update for steel series that came up, but still the same issue. We have swapped usb ports as well. Any ideas??

Thank you, edited and we’ll try to delete the Norton malware. Will that not leave us open to security threats?

So, I have downloaded the Norton remove app, uninstalled Norton, checked for windows updates in advance settings, only one available which was 2024-11 cumulative update preview for .NET (KB5048162) downloaded and installed, son has played on the pc for 45 mins and they have cut out again. They are steel series arctis 1. Had no issues with them on his Xbox for over 12 months. We also have an issue where we cannot get the microphone to work with the pc at all?! Not sure if this is connected or not???

I've found some other people online who seem to have run into the same issue:

I believe the issue you're facing could be down to the correct devices not being selected for input (mic) and output (sound), as described in the above thread.

If you open your control panel and go to sound, in the playback tab, double-check that your headset is the default device (it might be called "Game" as a kind of sub-category), then check the recording tab and make sure the headset's microphone is the default device (may be called "Chat").

So long as that's all set up correctly, in any game you play you should be able to simply use "default device" for any audio/mic and it will refer to these defaults in the control panel and work correctly.

I did find another thread which was less promising because it suggested there may just be an issue with these headsets: https://linustechtips.com/topic/1431579-arctis-pro-wireless-audio-cutting-out-please-help/

But make sure it's all set up correctly in the control panel to be sure.

So, after massive head scratching, deleting this, updating that, having a remote visit from the friendly guys at PC Specialist, it turned out to be a switch on the dongle that you can switch from Xbox or PC! Wife noticed it whilst unplugging it after testing the fault on our laptop 😂 appreciate all of your help and suggestions 👍🏼
