Steam Next Fest recommendations

The new Steam Next Fest is up and running with loads and loads of new games and more importantly DEMOS!

Looking back at my recommendations from the last one in February:
- Homeworld 3 has kinda flopped
- GT Manager '24 has rebranded to GT Manager, a sign it may not actually come out this year
- Tokyo Psychodemic has ditched its English localisation (at least for now) and is deep into Mostly Negative reviews
- Pacific Drive is into Very Positive, but perhaps didn't turn out quite as good as I was hoping
- Realm of Ink has switched to a full release in 2025, but is coming out in Early Access in Q3 this year
- Never Grave: The Witch and the Curse has delayed their entry into Early Access
- Ghost of Catsushina has rebranded to Jaderaze Inferno, probably with the threat of a lawsuit!
- Balatro is kicking major butt and really is an indie gem for the year

The short version is that I play a lot of games, make a lot of recommendations and basically don't know what I'm talking about.

Feel free to ignore any suggestions I make in the coming week!

The whole Next Fest page is a bit overwhelming, so I thought I'd get warmed up by downloading the 25 "Recommended For You" demos. This is going to be a crazy week where I'll be hoping to touch maybe 75 to 100 demos before most of them are removed from Steam

If that doesn't scare you, you might be scared of my most anticipated game of the year #BLUD. They've re-uploaded their February demo, so maybe you should check it out!

That symbol is freaking me out, did you see that's the new Siri logo? And Meta? I'm not having it, please tell me you have at least ∞ + n games @AccidentalDenz?
I can't tell you that. In reality, I have ∞ + ∞ games. This is probably not news to anybody on here though!

First demo I played last night, first recommendation from the June Next Fest - Hollywood Animal.

I played a lot of The Movies when I was younger, a game which placed you at the helm of a movie studio. It was a unique concept at the time, and I've only recently started seeing games like it be released. The game is fairly standard management sim, you hire staff, place facilities and so on in order to make movies for your studio.

One thing I really like about Hollywood Animal is that it is not afraid to show the darker side of Hollywod - in The Movies, you might have an actor refuse to film because they are drunk. In the Hollywood Animal demo, I was able to blackmail one of the top actors into starring in my film because of a sex scandal that he wouldn't want public knowledge as it would kill his career. The demo takes place during the late 1920s, early 1930s and a lot of people have the racist and/or misogynist traits - that would almost certainly come into place over a longer period of time and the game is due to run several decades. This game is DARK and I love it!

This time next week, I'll finally be playing #BLUD, well maybe not at this time as I'll be getting ready for work, but you know what I mean. It is probably the game I'm most looking forward to this year.

They've re-released the demo from February's Next Fest, so might be worth checking it out to see if it has the same impact on you as it did on me.

Big Boy Boxing is heavily inspired by Punch-Out and I'm very much here for it!

Hollowbody is a survival horror game that gives me Silent Hill or original Resident Evil vibes, but set in Britain. I'm pretty impressed with it so far!

A while back, I said I was really looking forward to a game called Dungeons of Hinterberg.

I got around to playing the demo in the Next Fest last night and it's looking as good as I'd hoped. It's out next month and is shaping up pretty nicely!
