I was gonna try and hold off until it arrived, but I'm so excited I can't contain myself.
My lovely family have clubbed together to get me another Vinyl Me Please Anthology box set for the Chrimbletime Festivus.
This time, it's "The Story Of Ghetto Records", a collection of extremely rare out of print records from 1970's New York Samba and Latino dance scene. Ghetto records basically created the Latino dance movement in the States, but unfortunately almost all the masters were lost when it went under.
Most of these records have been sourced from the few superb copies of vinyl still in existence (which are incredibly rare), and then remastered by an engineer called Jason Bitner who specialises in restoring vintage records

I had to post this as I'm really excited.
@AgentCooper will totally get this, the obsession with original first pressings as they more often than not are much higher quality than later represses, often due to the deterioration of the master tapes over the decades to the point where sound quality is degraded. But in most cases, orginal copies, certainly of 60's and 70's (and earlier) content will mostly sound the best as well as be more collectible.
I'm a big fan of audiophile remasters and restoration projects like Analogue Productions and Vinyl Me Please do especially, I'm a huge fan of their works.
Often with serious collectors' editions like Original Sex Pistols / some Pink Floyd originals / Wu-Tang Clan believe it or not etc etc, to get something of any quality I would consider acceptable will set you back in the 1000's which obviously, I'm not in a position to do.
So that's where really well-done audiophile remasters can be worth their weight in gold as you can get something excellent sounding for a fraction of the cost.
BUT, that doesn't mean that I don't appreciate originals, and I have a growing list of originals that I MUST HAVE for various reasons.
For instance, the original master tapes for Minnie Riperton's Les Fleurs ('71 first press) were lost shortly after it was first pressed in about '73, all later reissues have been sourced from digital copies, usually from needle drops. I demand to have an original copy of that single and shall not rest until that's the case.
Well, I've recently signed up to a club called "Original Buyers Club", which is a channel of 45rpm Audiophiles YouTube channel, it's 5Euros a month and gives you access to review of original pressings, but MORE IMPORTANTLY, gives you access to specialist vinyl sourcers around the world who can get local originals. You specify your price range and the kind of quality you're hoping for, and they go off and do their best to make that happen. Currently they only have one specialist who's a UK based guy who only sources UK originals, but he already sourced about 100 copies for members and people are absolutely blown away both by the price and quality.
So I'm going to kick it off next year by starting to source the Elvis Costello early albums, his originals sounds amazing and have never been bettered, and to date are still acceptable prices. I want to get them before the prices explode.

This is quite an unusual one from the incredible Cercle Records, a promotional company that paves the way for some of the most remarkable DJ sets and parties around the world at incredible locations.
This is 0.0.3.0 Halo (Pølaroit) from Cercle Records
It's unusual in that the cover comes as pure white, and you tear an opening to a print behind it. There are 9 different prints available to choose from, so 9 different physical versions of the cover. Quite unusual. They always do something a little different though, really thoughtful.
