PC is used for gaming only. Planning to upgrade the monitors that I have to support the 3070 shorty after getting the new PC.

Is it worth getting windows 11? I do have windows 10 usb already.

I mostly play MMOs, most recent being new world, and play a lot of RTS and city building games, survival games and RPG single player games like kingdom come deliverance etc (hopefully new elder scrolls when it comes out in 5 years :D) and play modded mincraft, heavy packs, which is why I opted for the 32gig of ram as modded eats ram.

My current rig is ancient, GTX 970 with and i7-3820 cpu @ 3.60GHz, 16gig DDR3 ram at 1600. I have a Samsung 860 1TB ssd which I will use to put my games and stuff on, why I only chose the 250gig nvme for the OS.

DDR5 is a "money is no object" affair at the moment.
The RAM has very little gain over DDR4 (I'm told the DDR5 is CL40....), is considerably more expensive and theres no guarantee that motherboards will be able to support DDR5 as it develops, its too early on.

For the amount of money you have to take out of your budget to build a spec using DDR5 it really, really isnt worth it, and it wont futureproof it either.

If you have a spare copy of Win 10 you wont need a licence at all, you can use that, and you woud be able to upgrade for free from Win 10 to Win 11 anyway.

What monitor are you looking at upgrading to? The monitor and the GPU should (basically) be chosen together
The resolution and refresh are important when choosing a GPU, as is screen size.... what do you have now, what specific plans do you have for upgrading?

Ditch the H100x hydro cooler, its a very old model, look at the H110i/H115i/H150i models, a 12600 Intel should be happy on a H100i, but the 12700 ones are what most people should be looking at for gaming from what I can gather. I'd stick that on a H115i.

You also want to seriously consider a minimum 850W PSU, and most would say push for 1000W to ensure good room for GPU upgrades over time. 750W is the minimum recommended by Nvidia for the 3070, and i've seen multiple mentions about future GPU's being likely to have increasing power requirements.

Also, to spend all that money on DDR5 and 3070 Ti etc etc... I dont understand why youve then skimped on a older generation 250GB M2 SSD...

With a £2K budget, you can put a better machine together than what you have, i'd strongly urge reconsidering the spec choices.

so tldr, go down to ddr4, get a better cpu cooler, get an i7, get a better m.2 drive.

Screen i dont know yet, one that will support the 3070 well. Might consider a 3060 if ideal screens for 3070 are to much.

Ill read up some more and play around a bit.

You are thinking of GPUs and monitors the wrong way round, its not the monitor that supports the GPU, its the GPU that supports the monitor.
Figure out what monitor you want, and then that will tell you what GPU you need for it.

You dont need to know exact model, but you should have a resolution and refresh rate in mind, and whether you want a standard screen size or ultrawide etc... from those spec requirements, you then know what GPUs you'll need to be looking at.

If you're looking for help just answer the questions and we'll post up a config for you to look over. The advice above isn't just so that you can go it alone, it's to ponder and feed back with. If you do this, we will re-configure the spec best suited to your needs and you can have a look over it and see if you have any questions.

If you have a look at the link posted earlier there's a ton of information on how we tend to come up with the configurations. If you look through the various spec threads on this area of the forum you will see the information that's typically sought and the sort of responses that are offered as assistance.

So... TL;DR, help us to help you.
