Spec for video editing PC - help needed!

Hi all

Am looking for some extra guidance regarding the below build, which I feel is slightly under what I will need (my full budget is £1.8K)

The main things that I will be using it for are music video editing (Premiere and AE) and general Photoshop stuff. I don't edit anything higher than 4K, so it doesn't need to handle anything above that at this stage. My main monitor is a Dell U2719D so is only 2K, but is ok for the time being.

If someone could have a look at the below and give some extra advice, that would be much appreciated, especially as I have probably missed out some things. Thanks in advance

I think you could benefit from a 5800x, which needs better cooling (I selected a bigger case to give you a bigger cooler). I have upgraded the PSU and storage (including a small SATA SSD as a scratch drive). This does come in a bit above your budget. I am sure there will be other options for you to consider from other regulars.

Thanks very much for this. I've heard that that processor gets crazy hot, even with a decent cooling system. Has that been an issue that you've encountered?

I own a 5800x I undervolted it slightly ( was no hit to performance ) now it idles at 30c not seen it go above 81c I have the h115i cappellex cooler

In gaming it settles at around 60-70

It's a hot processor, but that doesn't cause issues, AIO can easily cope with that.

Even though it's hot, it's far cooler than anything Intel have to offer, so it's by no means the hottest processor out there, just in AMD's lineup.

@Bigfoot Sorry to ask about this again, but I was wondering if you could advise on a build that doesn't have all the RGB stuff on it, but is a bit more sleek? Thanks in advance

The RGB can always be turned off. There are others on here that know the cases better than me and could advise you better.

You could change it to the Corsair H100i RGB PRO XT Hydro Series High Performance CPU Cooler, which doesn't come with the commander core or have as many lights as the capellix version which at the 120mm fan size is out of stock

That's weird as I have ordered the same CPU with the same case and the same cooler as Bigfoot suggested, few weeks ago and I didn't get this message.

Yeah something very strange going on, as it must have been compatible for @Bigfoot to have posted the spec, however I've tried and got the incompatible message

Most likely they've found it's a problematic configuration for space etc and so to save hassle they are just labelling it as incompatible.

It's weird, I didn't get this message when I placed my order with these pieces 3 weeks ago. I've just spoken to customer service to clarify this and they said it should be fine if the order goes through but they will get in touch should there be any issues. I've tried to place a second order using exactly same components as the first time and I also received this message. I know I'm getting ahead of myself but what would be the best course of action here? Changing the cooler or changing the case? If so, which cooler/ which case? Apologies for going off topic
