For another £8 you can go with this and just go straight in at 1440p 144hz. It will be massive overkill for 1080p but it's a complete build for 1440p. Seems like a no brainer to me

Agree with both @Steveyg and @Martinr36 on this one, that’s a fine system you’ve specced yourself. I think the only change I’d personally make is to go fully modular on the power supply and get the 850w RM level. After the few dodgy TXm units we encountered last year I’m still somewhat hesitant to recommend them. Anything RM upwards tends to live forever and is pretty much bombproof 👍

All great info, thanks everyone.

If I take all the advice above and modify the spec, will this be a good system for 1440p on new games? I.e. no framerate issues.

If so, any monitor recommendations (prefer not curved - find it easier to work on).

Thanks!

Yeah I have a similar system running at 1440p and it's crushing everything I'm throwing at it for now. I don't see that slowing down any time soon.

I anticipate and GPU upgrade in maybe 3 years just to keep up with current trends but other than that it's solid

Monitors there are few 1440p options, I personally have a Samsung G5 but it's curved so not the right fit for you I guess.

I believe there's a flat AOC one that gets linked here quite often as well but I'll leave the monitor suggestions to guys who know better than me

Perfect, thanks so much! Yeah I've seen the AOC one linked before, I'm sure I can find it again.

Cheers!

Wow the price difference between 3060 and 3060ti is outrageously small. I’d go straight in at ti or... ‘drop’ to 2060s and eye up a 3070 as a future upgrade.

Fantastic build from both of you there! I'd go for @Steveyg 's build and agree with @AgentCooper about the RM PSU. The RM's are higher quality and for some reason the 850W is cheaper than it's TXm counterpart!

With the 3060TI, it'll happily give you a 1440p 144hz experience. And for 60hz, you're laughing

For 1080p 144hz, the MSI Optix G241 and AOC 24G2U are both great options and can be found for £200 online

For 1440p 144hz the Samsung G5 is a forum favourite but is beaten by a AOC CQ27G2U in an RTings review. Both of these are curved panels but a flat version can be found for the AOC called the Q27G2U. All three can be found for £300 or less online

What's outrageous is the performance difference between the 3060 and the 3060Ti I don't understand how they could share the same name the 3060 couldn't lace the Ti's boots

Yeah, even for 1080p users, if they mention a temptation to upgrade I feel like it's a no brainer right now. I'm sure as the prices settle it'll come to a lot more than a £26 difference so you might as well take the plunge and save the money down the road.

A lot of me has a strong expectation that this 3060TI card will become the new 1060 (in terms of sheer popularity, not performance 😂 ). I believe in the Steam hardware survey, more than 10% of users have a 1060

I used to have a 1060 6Gb and it was absolutely fantastic for what i needed. Even now it will run warzone at 80+fps, so perfect for a 75hz 1080p monitor.
