Spec Check for already purchased machine

Hi all!

I'm a bit of a donkey and have already purchased this computer, but can amend my order as needed. Wanted to run is past forum members to see if I was totally off the mark with anything as this is my first work and gaming station after a Mac workstation, and my first foray into the world of AMD. I perhaps shouldn't have been so hasty. With hindsight I could get rid of the thermal paste as I think the cooler comes with it, and I am probably being greedy with the gen 4 m.2.

My budget is £2,500-£2,800 and this machine comes in at £2,666. My budget is massive due to an unexpected windfall so I kinda just went all out.

This PC is intended for mixed heavy use, both for gaming and work. It will be ethernet connected to the internet at all times so omitted a better quality wifi card.

For work, I will be doing heavy image processing (astrophotography) using photoshop and pixinsight, along with video rendering. There will also be some curation and design work in photoshop and illustrator.

For gaming, I play grand strategy (like Stellaris), MMO's, Cyberpunk and sometimes simulator games along lots of other less intensive games (I'm looking at you, Stardew Valley).

The case is a fractal design meshify 2, light tinted window (a gorgeous case).

The monitor I will be pairing with will be QHD 144Hz, ideally 1ms and I have a £500+ budget for that but I am still shopping around for one.
Peripherals are all sorted otherwise.

Any help/advice would be appreciated. I will be adding in HDD myself (so going just with SSD and M.2) as needed for larger files like photo and videos, the meshify 2 has tonnes of storage space.

Many thanks!

Solid effort, not that many changes suggested from me. I’d go for two sticks of RAM due to some recent stability issues and it also gives you room to add more later if you need it. WiFi card should be upped to the AX200. The RMx PSU is the newer model of the one you’ve chosen so I’d drop that in. I’d go for the H115 Elite, and as you rightly say the added paste isn’t necessary. I think it’s debatable whether you’d need an extra five fans, three would probably suffice for a solid cooling solution. We’d all drop kick the BullGuard AV as far as we could. And the Corsair M.2 would give you faster storage than the Samsung SSD. With that being said, here’s my take on it...

And you might want to go ultrawide with your monitor, it’s a great partner for a 3070 🙂

Thanks so much for this- it's these types of optimisations that totally pass me by particularly the ram stability. I was very nervous about the cooling situation, but if you recommend upping to the Capellix and reducing the fans to x3 I will go with that. I'll tweak it to adjust. Many thanks!

You don’t need to worry about cooling, the Meshify is a great airflow case. I believe it comes with 2x140mm fans at the front and a single 140mm fan at the back.

So logistically, they’d ideally roof mount the radiator and fans from the cooler. And if you get three extra fans they’d probably put two at the bottom and replace the rear fan. If you got five I reckon they’d take out the two 140mm fans at the front and replace them with three of the LL120s. Which would look nice but probably not be any more beneficial for the system.

If anyone else in the hive mind has theories about fan placement in this scenario, please pipe up 🙂👍

Aye I drew them a little diagram as to where the fans could go, they will have to now disregard my terrible drawing :D. I also put in some haribo in the computer case box. Because sugar is good.
Meshify is indeed great for airflow. I have nightmares about overheated components haha.
